My kid is driving across the country to Vegas. To say I'm nervous is an understatement!

 

About what... the drive... or when they get there!

 

The drive.
He's trying to make it in 2 days. A 40 hour drive in 48hrs. I keep hoping he doesn't nod off!

 

Why drive? Is he moving there? You can fly there for less than the price of fuel. One of the cheapest destinations to fly to on the planet.

 

Spent 6 hours today with a few neighbors going over some property lines. Campground nextdoor uses a spring house which happens to be on my land, and has been for 30 + years. The campground owner wants it on his land officially (he's got squatters rights), and is about to put his entire 490+ acres into permanent conservation, overseen by a trust. Part of that land he owns is above us, and almost 1.5 miles of ridge line, with land on both sides of the top.

Funny, he wants the spring house, and I want to own on top of a mountain (okay, it's a big hill, 2300ft, but let the kid inside pretend).

So we looked at maps, drove all over, and hiked where we couldn't drive. We have come to a general agreement, the 10 acres he wants is very clear and easy to survey off. The piece I would get is more up in the air, but I have 2 of the boundaries, and the other two will be set when it hits 10 acres. It will include easement rights to some of the old logging roads on his land, so I can reach my section. These roads are somewhat open, but it will require the new tractor, the chainsaw, and honestly maybe a dozer/mini ex in some spots to make it driveable for a car. I can bust it for a day with a saw and have it usable for 4wheelers though.

I am very excited to see how this develops, my idea for up there would be to make a cut out for long range views in a spot or two without effecting how it looks from the road. A camping platform would be very nice for a tent or two as well. There is a 4wheeler trail that goes along the whole ridge area, it isn't a "legal one" but it's been established and seems regularly used. I wouldn't mess with that, hell I'll be riding it myself now that I know it's there! The trail was clean as well, so I'm not too worried about people trashing it.

 

Any of you all live near @jpereira2 that come up to the Auburn area? He has some leaf springs for me. Thank you if anyone can help.

Visited Baxter State Park. Drove the “Park Tote Road” in its entirety. Made several stops to hike and take in the sights. Beautiful.

I commute to mansfield daily and he works down by there and then im in the borough of north...I'm sure we can coordinate. I bought a caliber of him last year and we met up in Norton.

Now to more important things enjoying a glass of this imported beauty from my trip to Canada last week.
