    Hi All,

I know I'll receive some Hate for that hack however I wanted to share my idea and experience.

So my goal was to put a shackle up front and didn't want to spend too much in the process. Didn't want to just hang the shackle in the OEM recovery point, having it dangling around.

So I made a 3 parts sandwich that put the 3/4" shackle in direct contact with the front of the recovery but keep it in place.

Parts are G10 (fiberglass board) in 1/4" thick because it's easy to cut on my CNC machine. It would be better in aluminum or even better in steel for lateral load.

    Anyway here is the results...

    Thanks

I like the ingenuity. That’ll be fine for a light tug here or there but wouldn’t recommend it for anything more than that. Not because of what you made, but because of that “recovery point” (which isn’t actually a recovery point).

Unless you really tighten that down the threads will back out over time on the shackle. I caught one of mine once just before I lost it.

That’s cool. Keeps the shackle in place until you need it, and then when you need it, the spacer will crumble away. As long as you know it’s sacrificial (unless you removed it before recovery), it works as intended.

Yes - It would only be for casual pulling or something. However in a straight line it should be fine. Lateral loads will crush it for sure in G10.

Wrap stainless wire between the hole in the pin and the shackle.

I enjoy safety wiring stuff. My friend, who used to do it for work, hates when I say that.
