    Hey everyone,
I used to have an FJ and looking to buy another one. I have found one that is really nice EXCEPT the rust underneath. It has spent a few years at the beach. I need some expert opinions on how bad yall think it is. Would you be scared to buy this one?IMG_0409.jpg

Some of those holes don’t look like they’re from the factory. I wouldn’t buy it.

I'd walk. Toyota frames get rusty enough, but a beach truck? no thanks.

    Too few to list.
A few years at the beach wouldn't have that much rust underneath. I looked at a 1st Gen Taco that's right on the beach it's whole life and it didn't look like that.

Thanks for the responses. I was going to drive an hour and a half one way to look at it tomorrow. I think I’m gonna pass now. Luckily, I have a friend that lives close to it that took the pictures and sent them to me.

Don't be in a rush and expand your search even if you have to fly. Good that you're looking at the frames though.

Surface rust is expected and can be treated...but that one goes beyond.
Keep looking. As mentioned, a one way plane ticket may be in the cards.

Just normal look after few years on salted roads. This is solid, no extra holes. Mine looked like this after 5 years, I cleaned and painted it, rust protection wax after that. Looks good now after 8 years from that fix.

Yeah, I dunno. I grew up in Western PA and that's what every car looked like. Many much worse.

I don't thin it looks horrible. Just be aware to treat and monitor.
