I got these side steps for no charge. I bought the spray on bed liner to coat them. I was able to get the end caps off, but the foot treads seem to be a bit harder to remove.

Any one try this and were you successful?

If unable to remove. You can apply masking/painter's tape to every exposed item you do not want to coat.

That'll be my last resort. I would like to try and coat underneath them... But if I can't, not a huge deal. These are just "temporary" until I can afford some real nice sliders.

Those treads will pop off if you get a screwdriver or prybar underneath them. We replace them at work frequently.

If I break the plastic clips, do you know if they sell replacements?

You will have to purchase the complete tread.
