Picked up my SOS Concepts Aluminum Slimline yesterday afternoon from Eddy. Thank goodness weather has been perfect here in the Charlotte area the last several days and I was able to get the bumper mounted early this afternoon. In total it took me just less than 2.5 hours on my own to complete the job, including a bit of prep, clean up and a required beer break.

Another quality SOS Concepts product on my Tacoma!

    Thanks Eddy!

BTW... the beer was a Highland Brewing Wanderlush. Quite enjoyable. Will post that on Untappd later.

Looks great! I love the low profile look and the fact that it's less weight than a full bumper. Now if I could only find one without the cross bar...

They do offer it sans crossbar. I would have bought this had they offered it without the cutouts...

    Looks great BTW!

Here's the photochopped look I was going for FWIW..

Any cutting involved? I'm considering this bumper, but making cuts is what scares me. Do you know if SOS concepts make a bracket for a license plate holder? Live in California and the stupid law requires us to have it.

    Thanks all!

A bit of cutting needed. Used my DeWalt oscillating saw with a bimetallic blade. Worked like a warm knife through butter.

Yes, you can get it without the tube, but I think it adds to the profile in a positive manner.

Don’t think they have a plate adapter, but don’t have a need either.

    Nice job on the install!

Love mine, but it’ll be for sale in a few weeks. I got a full plate SOS on order!

The hoop is an option. Plenty of folks running them without the hoop.

Eddy could probably make one without the cutouts... @ovrlndkull ??

However, they are really there for easy access to the winch clutch and controller hookup.

    @ovrlndkull ?

Thanks for the heads up! I should have called before ordering SSO. Maybe I can sell the SSO for what I paid?

Dang, that sucks. They shouldn’t charge a cancellation fee IMO unless they already started production...but, their business their rules.

Probably wouldn't make one without the cutouts. It's really a bad idea to get rid of the cut outs you wouldn't be able access the winch to free spool or engage it. Unless you decide to go winchless. Also them being open easier to clean out the dirt that is bound to collect in there. You'd proably get an SOS if you ordered now before SSO can deliver one. Plus you can get 10% off.
Yes you have to cut the center lower section of the factory bumper out. Sorry no license plate bracket. There are so many ways guys do the front plate. If you have any other questions let me know.

Thanks for the reply! The turnaround time and discount sounds great! I also like the lightweight aluminum option. Just my personal preference, but no worries if it didn't workout! Aluminum basic would be sweet though! :spending:

:threadjacked:. (sorry OP! Love the new bumper!)

Also, keeping it clean, you wouldn't have any rocks, mud, water, bugs, or birds going in if those cutouts if they weren't there
