any taco bros in Moab? Got here last night and am looking to hit up the trails, but recognize the safety in numbers

How much of that area is drivable? Looking to plan a future trip.

 

You're a long ways from home to be beating up your frame/truck. Be careful out there!

 

Oh, she’s not a rental. I really only checked out Fins & Things and retreated. It was doable — not having a spotter was no bueno — traction was a non-issue, but clearance caused unavoidable scraping on some obstacles. Always walk the obstacle first - saves falling off ledges and making painful noises.

Yeah, don’t I know it. Stalled it going uphill and it wouldn’t start for a loooong time. Got her going — so flooded i could smell the raw exhaust :/

If you're after scenery without damage check out the Schafer trail and Gemini bridges. Before or after you do the Schafer trail drive out to Dead Horse Point for a completely different view of the same area. If you want to watch some of the harder stuff, the moab rim trail is just outside of town and you can easily hike to the Devils Crack and the Z-turn.

 

Actually this thing floods itself all the time. I’ve bitched about it to the service department the first week i had it but they wouldn’t touch it. This time was my fault, but usually i’ll just get to the truck and try to start it and it will crank and crank and crank and almost start but not — and then i have to floor it and crank it to clear out the flood. The factory tune is hot garbage on the stick shifts. Gotta get some of that OVtune

Oh and for those that are worried about the OP, don't. Scraping the paint on the frame hardly counts as frame damage. Short of being really stupid, which the OP clearly isn't, the truck will be fine. When I take my truck off road my biggest concern is the rocker panels. And it is 10000000% acceptable to walk an obstacle first before committing your truck. Even with a spotter I'll often get out and check the path for myself, and there ain't no shame in taking the easy way if there is even the slightest doubt.
