    What up guys,

I've been thinking of purchasing XenonDepot's XTR HID 5K kit for my 2018 sport. Does anyone have any kind of video or pictures of how y'all installed yours? I'm a bit on the fence about buying HID's because I am not completely sure I would be able to install it correctly, although it doesn't seem very hard.

I've found other threads with different HID configs and I'm just a little unsure. I feel like mounting the ballast for the lights are what will take the most time.

You need to install projectors first or you will be blinding oncoming traffic

Third gens already have projectors, they’re not designed for HID’s but they work and have a cutoff.

Just buy a plug and play kit. I have a DDM kit and it’s strictly plug in and play and it’s a night and day difference from stock. Best upgrade ever in my opinion.

That's not true, the stock projectors cut off pretty well considering.

Most kits are plug and plug. I mounted my ballast just with the 3M tape they came with and they have been on for a year now with no issues.

They’re not the correct ones and you’ll still be throwing light incorrectly. That and modified H11 bulbs < D2S bulbs.

but yeah, H11 kits will plug right in. You can use 3M tape for the ballasts, or zip ties for more security during warm weather.

Sure seems like a nice crisp cutoff to me. Do I want to spend $250, or $1000? D2S and retrofit X350's arent worth the extra $750 and the H11 kits have more than enough candlepower.

You should compare it to real HID projectors. They’ll work well enough, but they’re still not correct. I lived with those things in my rear view in Hawaii for years (every other vehicle is a Tacoma there).

In the pic below, I'm comparing Phillips H9 halogen bulbs, one of the best halogen replacements you can do to my XenonDepot 5000K HID bulbs.

Here is a still from my dash cam from some night time driving down a dark road. I have my fogs in that but you can see how well it lights up the road. You can also see the cutoff from the projectors, so you’re fine to run HID’s. You’re not blinding traffic like people with halogen reflector headlights are.

@Technique Careful with those H9 bulbs they're not correct and you'll be blinding oncoming drivers.
