Has anybody with steelcraft's rear bumper guards experienced scratches on the tailgate?
Have you done anything to prevent scratching the tailgate? Any ideas?

I knew i had a very little clearance but I just noticed there was a minor scratch on the tailgate today. I bought a thin rubber to protect them about a half year ago but since the clearance was about 1-3mm and the rubber was 1mm thickness, i ended up holting the installation. Ill post pics tomorrow when i can see better.
Its most likely from loading/unloading wheel+tires last week when i changed to winter sets...

Yeah I added washers where the mounting brackets bolt in to lower the bumper. Will take pics in the daylight as an example. Had to use like 6 washers I think

Here's where I put washers, in between top of mounting plate, and the holes that you bolt it onto. I have a Hitch coming off the sameness bolts, so it's a busy area for me down there but it works. I dont haul heavy loads with my Hitch, otherwise I would want it to sit flush against the plate and loose the bumper guardIMG_2399.jpgIMG_2398.jpg

I checked it out to insert a spacer the other day and realized that the bolts are located both vertically and horizontally. According to the picture, i understand you inserted the spacer on the bolts that were installed vertically. How did you accommodate the height difference on the bolts installed horizontally? Did you bore it out? I just ended up using a pneumatic die grinder. only made it larger by a few millimeters but its a bit better clearance now.
Also, I snowboard and go into snowy areas. I had to make sure to remove all the hard ice on top of the bumper guard before opening up the bed as ice will fill up the clearance very easily...
I guess not many tacoma guys care as much as i do.lmao

Does anyone have pictures of the steelcraft on their taco's? please display, or send to me, considering buying one, Noticed in only photo I can find is a rear shot and it seems to stick out on the sides?
    Thanks
