Manual hubs were an option on 1st gens through 2000. 2001-2004 were all ADD

Does my t case or my hubs have wires or vacuum lines?
    Thanks!

That I'm not sure about to be honest, I just know that the J shift transfer case lever like what you have is more desirable amongst Tacoma owners than the push button 4wd system.

For no reason except not wanting the front diff and CV's to turn while in 2WD and my desire for a "positive" lock and unlock on the hubs. I get it, you like the system. Other than it having auto hubs, I know nothing about the system other than what you guys have shared with me. Well actually I know those IFS's are heavy AF because I cut the one off my '88 and had to pick it up to throw it in the dumpster. Lol

I should have done the SAS when I had the parts and was capable.

    Less favorable to whom?
Why would I want the CV's, the front diff, the driveshaft, and some of the t case internals spinning all of the time while in 2WD on a street queen pickup? Rolling resistance (mpg and power robbed), extra unneeded wear (it doesn't have to turn), and vacuum and/or electrical wires that can fail.
Manual hubs are bad ass. Put a locker in the front and manual hubs and that SOB is gonna go damn near anywhere.
Put a locker in the front of a Toyota IFS, well I actually don't know what you'd have at that point. But I'm guessing a shit ton of extra wear and tear on virtually every single front major suspension part all of the time.

The '88 was so simple, cheap to run, indestructible if treated half assed ok, go anywhere, cheap parts everywhere (back then)... why in the ____ didn't they design the Tacoma to work like that old '88 did, what possible advantage does the Tacoma system have?

My'88 didn't have any vacuum lines or wires going to the t case, the diff, or the hubs. It didn't have a 4WD indicator light. 100% mechanical.
