im Looking to lighten my wheels a little to improve mpg and to possibly get a little better off road capability.

I know the current oem rims weigh roughly 25lbs and was looking at some scs f5 that weigh 18-21lbs.

I’m trying to keep everything stock, no trimming and am not looking to do any lift, for my needs I don’t need it.

I can see a million threads about installing lifts and 80lbs tires but I see nothing about lightening up the wheel base.

Does anyone have any experience with this and is it even worth it.

Just a little background I follow pretty well maintained backroads with some steep inclines. As an avid hiker getting to some of these trails can get pretty lengthy.

The amount of money you will spend on this, and the returns you will get. It will not be worth it. At best, you could squeeze 1MPG...by spending $2k in wheels/tires. So if you drive 15k per year, that means you will save $83 in gas. I think you can do the rest of the math.

it's not going to be worth the hassle.

tire size, contact patch, and inflation has far more influence on mpg than a few pounds in the wheel itself

10lbs of rotating mass roughly equals to 100lbs of chassis weight.
    Do it!

but i found that light wheels, like FN Six Shooters, allow for heavy E tires with less impact on mpg & performance. i run E range tires in the stock size on these wheels and love the setup, but i did mine for on road performance, not for off road. i run Cooper AT3LTs but have also run 2 sets of ST Maxx like this and it was absolutely great everywhere i went including off road. just no off roading for me nowadays.

since you hardly go hardcore off roading i would look into some scs or T4R pro wheels mounted on some Michelins or a good AT tire...i switched out my sport wheels for T4R wheels and got almost 2 MPG's show us what you get

If you are after MPGs, stick with stock tire and size. Hell, run the SR5 take offs of 245/75/16 on some F5s. Those tires are something like 32lbs a corner.

The 16” F5 comes in 4.5 and 3.5 inch backspace. 4.5 will work on stock height no rubbing, but 3.5 needs extensive cutting. The 3.5 is a couple ounces lighter but the 4.5 is the way to go if you don’t want to cut anything and value the paint on the side of your truck. :D

    Stock and staying that way
Don't overlooks lighter tires. They matter more in this application (rotating) since they are further out from the center.

yea I was looking at the f5. 18lbs per wheel shaving 35lbs off the total weight of the wheels.

Does that really correlate to 350lbs of chassis weight.

Does anyone have any experience with these and what’s the improvement with your mpg

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Go with P metric tires, not LT. You’re welcome

Gold Volk TE37s would look good and also be lite, I like heavy tires though.
