To reduce the page length, I used Spoilers. This thread covers the 1996 to 2019 lifted Tacoma for Bilstein Direct Fit shock replacements.
    4. Should I use the B6 4600 or B8 5100 for my light truck or SUV?
...Our B6 4600 shock is for stock height vehicles while the B8 5100 are for lifted/leveled applications...source
To find the updated PDF data sheet, go to https://www.bilstein.com/us/en/, then in the top-right corner, select "Browse Online Catalog" and before selecting your vehicle, scroll down to "PARTS FOR PARTNERS".

Then, select "Off-Road & Light Truck" which opens this PDF: Bilstein Off-Road Catalog this PDF looks much like the one linked inside ThunderOne's thread, but is an updated version.
Edited and aligned to display only lifted 4WD/2WD Tacoma for years 1996 to 2019
Commonly recommended shocks from WheelersOffroad.com for "95-04 Tacoma 4x4", are the
were manufactured by Bilstein specifically for Race Car Dynamics and thus are not listed on the Bilstein Off-Road Catalog. Bilstein's shocks are classified by "24-", "33-", "44-", etc. and RCD's convention was apparently "F4-BE5-".
    * R.H.A is Ride Height Adjustable (24-263108, source)
** Bypass shocks utilize a dual tube externally adjustable bypass design (25-269819, source)
*** Note 20 on PDF: Recommended use with 1" block. 1" bump stop extension must be used if utilizing an add-leaf or new leaf pack (Page 18, source)

Aside from one link, I used BilsteinLifts.com to reference the actual product web pages. BilsteinLifts.com did not have 33-247724 and 33-247717 as a PAIR; it was only listed on their site as a KIT, thus I linked to HeadstrongOffroad.com for this shock pair.
Bilstein 5100s are such a popular product. After reading ThunderOne's TacomaWorld: Stiff Rear End...; I wanted to know more about Bilstein shocks and the variances they had to offer.

I have emailed Bilstein asking of them for the details to all the Direct Fit shock replacements I have listed in this thread.

    Thank you, @ThunderOne

See that fine explanation, "...they are valved 255/70, which is VERY stiff for an empty truck bed." which has me thinking, maybe this one ThunderOne. Herein underlies the greatest debate of all.

How to know what to buy depends on what application we intend for its use.

    Alas, the 33-230443, from ShockWarehouse.com.

My conclusion on being worried about valving is simple: leave the guesswork to those who have money and time to explore their options. Otherwise, trust the manufacturers' R&D (Research & Development). Furthermore, the most popular choices are the ones that work for most of the people interested in making these types of changes in their suspension.

Information on Bilstein shocks at ShockWarehouse.com
When searching for the right parts, it is important to get reliable data; without it, we should not be able to make informed decisions in confidence. Reading of the various characteristics of what makes a shock to our specfication helps us understand what we are purchasing and why that decision is good for us.

While this post was not full of science and maths, I remain enlightened by what I have found and hope this information is helpful to someone else reading about shocks, valving, and Bilstein.

I think I've spoiled the spoiler.

Why does Bilstein recommend a 1" block lift for the 33-247717 / 33-247724 rear shocks?

Edit: I found that Bilstein recommends the rear be lifted at least 1-inch over stock height. So as to not bottom-out as easily.

Also, I found this kit on BilsteinLifts.com: Bilstein 5100 0-2″ Front, 1-1.5″ Rear Lift Shocks for 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma 4WD. this kit uses the new generation rear shock but because it is not from WheelersOffroad, I cannot have Wheelers assemble this with OME 880 springs. This means I will
    1. Save $90
    2. Use spring compressor for the first time
The more I search I feel like there is just another treasure to be found and I now have 3.25 hours to sleep before work. Goodnight TacomaWorld.
