Hey all! We've got a trip coming the first week of September to northeastern AL to visit some family. The family we're visiting lives just south of Gadsden, and we'll spend a couple of days around there. Other than that, we have no plans and no destinations in mind. Since neither my fiance or myself has ever traveled the southeast, we're looking for some places to camp and some scenic drives/trails. We've got a week allotted for this trip, and we're open to exploring AL, GA, TN and NC. We'll be heading out from the Kansas City area on 9/1 and heading back on 9/8.

If anyone wants to tag along or meetup and camp, we'd be cool with that too! Anyone know of any area meetups during this time?

If you're gonna be around Gadsden, check out Noccalulla Falls. For camping, check out Cheaha State Park, or Cherokee Rock Village. DeSoto Falls, Little River Canyon are all great places to sight see too!

If you're headed to NC, Ashville is a fun town, lots of food, breweries, and outdoor stuff, got the Smokies right there. The paint Creek area in TN is beautiful as well.

    Like, so many.
There's boat loads of stuff to do in ATL. There's a very active Taco group in Alabama. Go post in our thread.

Anywhere in East Tennessee, Western NC, N Ga is great access to the Smoky Mountains. Great Smoky Mtn National Forest, Cherokee National Forest, Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forests.

If you are active I would recommend Ocoee, Hiwassee, Nantahala, or French Broad whitewater rivers. Of course there is plentiful great hiking opportunities as well

The Southeast is badass just don't tell anybody
