Something sounds off. I have an 03 with 33" tires and steel wheels, I get maybe 16-17 mpg.

10 is way too low... You sure thats accurate?

Yeah that's way too low. With my added weight and supercharger and heavy E rated 33s I average 15mpg.

Might be time to do a tune up, get some fresh spark plugs in there if yours are high in mileage. I think the changing interval on the oem copper plugs is pretty low like 30k miles? Anyway I bet most go way over that.

Is your check engine light on?

auto trans especially, plus big tires equals bad mileage. but yeah 10 is horrendous. I'd do a tune up like others have suggested - plugs and plug wires especially. Be sure to get OEM parts. I had the same truck as you except manual, and i would consistently get 17-18 mpg and that was with a lot of city driving.

    Yeah, way too low...

265/70's are the stock size, so that's not your issue. A lift by itself doesn't affect your mileage like that, either.

I'd get in there are start doing your plugs/wires, MAF sensor, IAC, throttle body clean, etc...

Search on this forum for "low gas mileage maintenance" or something like that and you'll find several threads on what to do.

I average 18.1 MPG. 4" lift and 31" tires. I'm constantly driving 80 mph on my 120 mi daily commute. I am expecting it to go down once I get bigger tires.

Check engine light on? You should be in the 15mpg range unless you drive it like you stole it all the time. I avg close to 21 if I don't rev past 2500. 3.4 4x4 manual on 285s w 4.56s

    Stock 2002, 2.7L, 4x4, ex-cab, I get about 18-19 mpg in the city and 21 mpg freeway. I'd get a tune-up!

My 98 after its 2nd tank of gas is getting right at 17mpg. Stock but with 31 x 10.5 x 15 Goodyear Wranglers. 3.4, auto, 4x4, 89 non-ethanol gasoline. I’m on the Big Island of Hawaii so no freeways. This included driving in the rain, speed up tp 70mph, a lot of slowing for curves and slow drivers, a lot of passing slow drivers, and a lot of elevation changes from practically sea level to 3,300 feet. My POS 2017 didn’t get this mileage driving 70 on a flat freeway. I have a heavy foot. First two tanks at 17mpg before I’ve done anything to the truck, I’ll take it.

The Big X (Excursion) gets 10 on a good day. The BMW 328d gets 48 all day long.
