I had a minor surgery recently and the doctor asked if I wanted the instruments that he didn’t use. I took them, they’re pretty nice. I see no reason not to ask for truck parts that they’re just going to throw away.

That’s pretty frugal. Is Toyota my insurance company or the hospital in this analogy?

No, I am just pointing out that people will usually give you shit that they're going to throw away anyways. I didn't ask for the tools (some tweezers, scissors, etc), he asked me.

Haha- I thought you were being sarcastic. It sounds like something my dad would do. I went to Dicks sporting goods with him this summer and he had to talk to the manager to see if the price on the clearance items was really as good as they could do on it...hahaha- it was in fact as good as they could do, but he felt better after asking.

I like your dad, I have no shame in trying to save a few bucks. Break out the eBay prices on your phone and ask if they can match them!

My dad keeps his own counsel- I appreciate his sense of pragmatism- and yours :)
