Speakers replacement and adding amp

I have replaced all the speakers with Kickers and want to add the Kicker Key amp. I have seen where people make their own harnesses for a plug and play fit. Did you do that? Can a total noob do it as well?

 

I taught myself how to soder on youtube and also did some crimping. Crutchfield gave me the color diagram I needed to correlate OEM wire colors with Kicker wiring components. Worked great, just took a little time and attention. Easy home job. I'll post a pic of my newbie work...

 

I have also purchased my parts from Crutchfield. Did the color diagram come with the amp?

Crap!! that looks complicated. Is that a specialty twisted cable?

 

That "specialty twisted cable" is called 9-wire. It has +/- for every speaker (front left; front right; rear left; rear right) and they're color coded. The extra one is ground, I believe.

It's not that complicated once you lay it all out or diagram it, but yeah, it might take a day.
