    Hi Everyone,

I unloaded my 2012 several years ago due to travel concerns, but a life changing event has me back to looking into a 2020 Off Road. I have kept two sets of tires (winter/off road) and am considering a 2020 Off Road over a TRD Pro. I had a long bed at the time and found it a bit difficult off road and as a daily driver/parking. Any input on short vs long bed?

Short beds are better off road, that’s the reason behind the TRD Pro only being offered in one configuration, a short bed. I think long beds look better, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My dream Tacoma would be a DCLB with a manual tranny.

DCSB and ACLB are the exact same wheel base and length

TRD Off Road Access Cab, FTW, if you don't need the faux full-size backseat.

Regarding the tires, I bought Goodyear Duratracs that have the 3 peak snow designation. Use them year round and sold off the winters on rims, and sold the crappy Kevlar "highway tires" that came with my O.R.

Also saved a ton by buying an O.R. over a Pro. Didn't want Leather seats anymore.

LB/SB--depends on what your needs are. Each have their pros and cons. You will have to decide. I prefer the shortbed myself, but if I absolutely had to trade for a longbed, I wouldn't complain either. Except for the fact you can't get a MT in a DCLB.

    Hello fellow Fort Funian!
I roll with a short bed and 90% of the time it's perfect for my daily life. Only when I want to haul dirt bikes or long items do I wish differently, but those are rare events.

I do use KO2s year round and have no issues with them (just one set of tires to maintain).

    Good luck!

Quad cab long box Tacomas are very long trucks, they are as long as a tundra. Most tacoma owners find out later that it doesnt fit in their standard garage.

As far as off roading goes, long is bad, short is good. Only on straight inclines does length really help..

I had an Access Cab 16' O/R and it was easier to navigate the trails compared to my buddy with his 12 DC LB.

    This is correct.
As long as the tundra and as much of a pita to park.
I went from a 2nd gen LB to a 3rd gen SB and have been much happier.
Unless it doesn’t meet your needs, the SB is more practical daily.

Thanks everyone for the input. Given my experience with a long bed I think I'll go with the SB for my 2020.
