My Dad has a professional dust collection system in his basement woodshop.

He has a vacuum that he can move the hose from one machine to another and it does a solid job keeping the basement clean. There is virtually no residual sawdust.

I think the filters are pricey but he said he only needs to replace it every couple years. He makes fine furniture in his free time. So hes using it a lot but not full time.

Not really - I just sold my house in March and I was ready to launch into a major fix-it project, but my agent said not to. He said make the front yard look nice and get rid of that wall color from the 1990's. I was all like what about the flaking stucco, broken fence, clogged rain gutters, etc, etc, etc. He said, you never know what the buyers are going to worry about and why spend time and money fixing something that doesn't add value and they don't care about? In the end the buyer wanted a bigger flue on the water heater to match current code and an electric flue fan on the furnace replaced. Had I spent the money to fix "my" list of things it would have been well over 10K. (IMHO the stucco looked like shit)

My agent was awesome, got us the price that came in above the banks appraisal and saved me a bunch of money on repairs

I use this when it's too cold to take stuff out side. You just need a decent shop vac and you can make a simple cart. I'll take a pic of mind tomorrow. You would not believe how effective it is at pull in the dust and you will never have to change the shop vac filter.

I dont have one at my house. I have just worked in shops that have them. It helps a lot with the fine dust floating around. It also makes clean up a breeze. You can disconnect hoses to use them as a vacuum. Most shops have a few openings on the floor that you can use a push all the saw dust to with a broom.

I also have an oneida dust deputy at my house

I would not recommend using the black and white hose. It's worthless for dust extraction as it's an expandable hose. Hence the pipe straps.

We're remodeling our bedroom, the last major area inside the house that needs it. Stripped to the studs, new wiring, insulation, window and red/white oak hardwood flooring to match the rest of the house.

The floor guy hurt his back so he had to push installation to next week, which conflicted with the window delivery day. Now I'll have to install the window when they will likely be sanding the floor. Today I removed the siding, pulled out the window then put up house wrap and window flashing. I tacked the old window back in place so when they deliver the new one I can pop it out and tack the new one in until the floors are done and cured.

We had to push back furniture delivery and I'm taking the week after next off work to try and catch up with the stuff that I'm behind on because of the delay (trim, ceiling fan install, closet light install, etc).

I ordered my replacement window based on what I thought was going to be the rough opening before I removed the wall covering, trim and old window. For that reason I erred on the side of caution and went a bit smaller. Now that everything is out I saw they had shimmed the old window and the RO is bigger than I thought.

When the new window comes in there will be 2 1/2 to 3 inches of open space from top to bottom. How would you guys place the window?

Build up sill and centre window , spray foam around it after installation with Hilti Door & Window

    https://www.hilti.ca/c/CLS_CONSTRCUT_CHEM_7132/CLS_FOAMS_7132/r3476

If you are trying to retain a common window sill elevation with other windows you could build the top down as well

Not sure if you wanted the can style or if this would work. You might be able to use the one in your link by removing the plug and wire directly into your house wire via box controled by a switch.

That’s our last ditch option, certain lights we would only need to re-wire and plug a hole but some others we would have to run the wire into the base (requiring more work) before re-wiring.

We’re hoping to stay away from that style, we just don’t really like how it looks.

Thanks, the other uplights I found before I posted were all wired but I guess I didn’t look far enough.
