I'll be curious to see how much of a difference you notice after the injector cleaning.

Some day i'll get around to doing that for my truck.

Me too. The truck has been running great and I was seeing decent mileage before hand at around 16/17 mpg cruising on the freeway at 75 or so. I'm not expecting much tho, maybe a little pick up in the power and a slight improvement on mileage. Either way, I'll have the piece of mind knowing the injectors are fresh.

Cleaning things up and getting ready to reinstall one of the valve covers. I broke the lip off one of the small half moons and am waiting for the replacement to arrive on Monday. Also waiting for the injectors to come back which could be a couple weeks still.

Re-wrapped the wiring loom for the injectors in Tesa tape.

Installed the new spark plug seals in the valve cover and put the new gasket in place.

Parts I was waiting for arrived early (not the injectors tho) so I was able to get the passenger valve cover installed. Also got the first piece of the oil filter relocation puzzle. I also realized that I think I installed the driver side spark plug gaskets the wrong way, aka backwards. Since it's already installed, I'm not messing with it. I think it will still seal fine tho.

I also replaced the oil filler cap rubber gasket and the idle air control valve gasket on the TB.

Started installing what I could until I get the injectors back. Coils are back in place and a couple other pieces but nothing major.

Received my long awaited injectors. They were surprisingly pretty clean when comparing before and after.

Before, right after removing from the motor and just a wipe down.

After they were rebuilt. Haven't even taken them out of the bags yet.

And finally the spec sheet showing before in GRAY and after clean/rebuild in WHITE. I'm impressed since they have 324k miles on them.

Probably won't see any difference on the truck but it's good to know they are fresh again. Might start putting them back in tonight. Truck will be running again this weekend for sure.

Dang. Those are pretty good results considering how many miles they have on them.

That's what I actually meant lol.
I would be more surprised if they were returned to you with results less than that.

Took a couple hours tonight and got most of the intake put back together. I'll finish up in the morning.

So I got everything back together and the truck fired up. Runs super smooth now too. Don't know if that's because of the injectors or that I also cleaned the throttle body while I was waiting. Unfortunately, while I was checking everything out for leaks and such, I noticed that there was fuel draining out of the air box. Shut the truck down and discovered that the fuel pressure regulator must have a hole in the diaphragm and it was allowing fuel to leak. When this happens, it drains into the air intake tube so that fuel isn't dripping out onto a hot engine. So, back OFF with the intake so that I could access the FPR and replace it.

And the fuel that leaked into the air box caused the rubber gasket that seals the air filter to swell and come unglued. So unless someone has a good idea to replace just the gasket, I have to get a new air box now too. :annoyed:

Ran out to the parts store this morning and got the new FPR, a new air filter since the old one was soaked in gas, some 1/4" FI fuel hose to replace the old return lines coming off the FPR and ordered a new air box assembly that will fortunately get here this afternoon. IO lucked out and had the receipt from O'rielly's for the old air cleaner assembly when the PO had replaced it. I was able to use that and get a new one under warranty. I finished putting the new FPR in and getting the intake all back together again when I got home.

Old and new Fuel pressure regulators. Old OEM one is Denso but I wasn't going to pay $180 for another OEM. Instead, I paid $145 for a no name replacement with a lifetime warranty.

New FPR installed. I also replaced the rubber FI return hoses coming off it to the hard line on the fender. The FPR isn't a Denso like OEM but it's what I have for now and it has a lifetime warranty. Fortunately, they aren't that hard to get to now that I have remove the intake a couple times.

Lower manifold back on. I reused the gaskets since they were new when I installed everything last night.

And this is where it sits until the replacement air box comes in this afternoon.

It's whole again. Runs great but seems a little hard to start sometimes. Maybe just the ECU needing to learn the newly rebuilt injectors. Drove it over to the DIY car wash and gave it a quick bath then came home and put the tent back on the rack as I'm heading out the California for Labor Day weekend.

Thanks man! Still have more to do, like finishing the front suspension but that will have to wait until I'm in the new house. I'll be moving next month, closing on a house off Twin Peaks in 2 weeks.

Took the truck out for a shake down drive. Went up Mt Lemmon here in Tucson and walked around at the top. Nice and cool up there compared to down in the city area, about 30 degrees difference. Truck ran great, maybe a little smoother than before but not a huge difference. Still have the occasional hard start issue when it's hot but it seems to be getting better. No visible leaks around the valve covers which is also a good thing.

Took the roads less traveled going back down the back side of Lemmon, all graded, non-maintained roads. Good to be back in the dirt again. Found a few spots that look like good camping spots for future trips.

Neat little observatory at the top as well. Locked gates kept people from doing further exploring.
