I have the Lisle funnel and it works fine. Saves a bit of mess. Prior to buying this funnel awhile back, I burped in the following manner:

    - Car parked on level surface - engine cool - remove radiator cap top up coolant close to top of radiator neck
    - Start engine - set heat control to max heat - turn fan on - low setting for fan is fine.
    - Take an old sock and fit it to the radiator neck - don't stuff it down inside the radiator - attach open end of sock around radiator neck like you were attaching a skull cap to your head.
    - Watch the temp gauge - when it gets about 1/2 way up - blip the throttle a couple of times wait a bit and do the blip again - repeat this a couple more times - you should feel heat coming out the heater
    - The purpose of the sock is to keep coolant from flying all over the place
    - If the temp gauge is still going beyond the 1/2 way mark after all of this - shut off engine and elevate the front of the truck - elevating the front of the truck can help bleed stubborn air pockets - with the truck elevated - you would go thru all of the above again - but you might need to top up the radiator again
    - If none of this works - your problem is not likely trapped air. I would be suspicious of the new engine and would then refer you to post #5 in this thread.

So couple of guys at my local automotive store had me turn the truck on while they tried stopping the fan while turning... The fan is strong. Is that what I was looking for?

It must be good & hot to check fan slippage. If you have a good mix of antifreeze & it is topped off your leak should show up if you let it sit a day or two without starting. If you drive it every day the leak will just evaporate but antifreeze will usually leak & show up on a cold engine after a couple days sitting or it worked for me.

I would inspect or replace those items.
    Especially the stuck thermostat

I've heard of bad thermostats. Especially cheap ones from autozone or something. Timing Kit + water pump I suggest OEM only. I'd get the coolant tested for exhaust, shouldn't be super expensive. I could see the engine builder not machining the heads properly allowing for a slight leak when it's pressurized or even a crack in the heads.

Nah i'd also highly suggest one of those spill free funnels.

EDIT: Also radiator caps can go bad. Get your cap pressure tested and make sure it's not "leaking" under pressure.

Update... We burped it a bunch of times and it seemed good, couldn't find the reason the reservoir was empty after driving it 25 mins. No leaks i could find. I ran another obd test and it pulled a code... Faulty thermostat! We are going to take the new one out and replace it with another new one. Ugh i saw a test for the thermostat to make sure it works.. Put it in a pot and let it boil to see if it opens. Should i do this?

If you are in that far, just replace the Tstat with a new one.

Sure replace the thermostat if it’s out, but doesn’t hurt to test the old one just to know.

Make sure it's facing the right direction too. Check some youtube videos first.

Are the Auto part stores Thermostat, okay for a Tacoma? I have read they can be picky on brands of other replacement parts...

You should be fine with one from the auto parts store. I would stick to Napa or OReilly though.

The OBD II can't test a thermostat. I think you must have a different issue.

    What was the code?

Also the thermostat going bad would not account for the lose of coolant.

True. Absolutely no way for it to read a code on a t-stat.

    True again.

Test the new t-stat before installing. Easy to do & take <10 minutes.

Has to be head gaskets at this point right? I mean if she's loosing the amount of coolant she's describing with no visible leaks if anykind what else could it be?
