The thing I like about it is
    3 different power sources
    Having 2 options for antennas

Nice to be flexible and not have hassle of a full install.

I started with one of those, and it worked OK with the rubber antenna, not great. I didn't like having wires going everywhere in the cab or running a wire through a window to a magnetic antenna, so I went with a small one and just did the fully install. Cost about the same as the Midland. It's mostly out of the way and easily accessible.

I have the frs radios at work. Not a ton of range, pretty much line of sight and not too pricey.

The one good thing about a mounted cb radio is it'll hit more places than a cell phone. It's not like the 70's when everyone had one, but they're still widely used here.

LOL, yeah, I was going to mount it next to the center console, but the antenna cable wouldn't quite reach so I kept it all running down the side. For my height and where I have the seat positioned, I don't hit it at all. I did a test fit with some tape before putting it there because I was worried about the same thing. It's a tiny little thing, so it doesn't really stick out much, and the mic is really handy right there as well. I probably couldn't mount a standard size one there, though.
