    Help-

I am doing the mod for the upgrade of the 4WD lighted switch to replace the non-illuminated 4WD OEM Taco switch.

    This old thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-gen-2-illuminated-4wd-switch.3681/#post-30770

describes where to tap in the HVAC power/illumination wires in a 2010. However, my 2015 Taco has a 16 pin HVAC connector where the 2010 has a 12 pin connector and the 2010 wiring colors do not match the 2015 wiring for the same switch.

Can any of you wiring gurus help me find which wires I need to tap into on the 2015 HVAC harness to power the Highlander lighted 4WD switch?

My mod went without a hitch so far. The Highlander 4WD switch was an exact replacement for the non-illuminated OEM Tacoma switch. The Highlander 4WD switch just popped into the same mount with zero mods. As indicated in the MOD thread, I also installed the two wires in the 4WD switch harness to provide the power to the bulb in the new switch. The wire install also went perfectly. No issues.

This is the switch I installed:

    Parts for MOD:

    4-runner 4wd switch, part number 84724-35020
Two terminal leads part number 82998-12420

I purchased a 2 day access to Toyota Info Service and downloaded the 2015 Tacoma Wiring Diagram for Air Conditioning/HVAC. The next two links are that wiring diagram (warning: large files) in both .jpg and .pdf format.
