I have found oil leaking from the valve cover on the back passenger side also oil leaking saverely what looks like in between the block and the head on the passenger side below the distributor. Also I noticed oil in my coolant jug. And found oil splattered everywhere all over my engine compartment. The dipstick was bone dry. Didn’t see any signs of coolant on the dipstick. Haven’t dropped the pan yet. Also check engine light was on the code was thermostat sensor. But The engine still runs and sounds great. No knocking or rattleing sounds comeing from the compartment. So i was wondering if I got a head gasket kit. To change all the gaskets and seals. From where the head and block meets starting there and move my way up. Also flush the coolant system and put fresh new coolant in. Was wondering about the temperature sensor tho.

Also i love my truck so much that im not anywhere ready to get ride of it. Am in process of saving money to drop a new motor in it. Or just bandage it up enough to keep it for a work truck and not go far with it. And buy an upgraded model. I kinda wanna get something the same size but more power extended cap 6 to 8 ft bed 4wd 6 to 8 cylinder motor. What would be a good choice in the Toyota family of trucks. I just don’t really want a full size truck

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Sounds like the headgasket needs replaced. Do not drive it or run it if you can help it.

The temperature sensor may fix itself once you get the system back to normal.

If you want the same size but 6 ft. bed and a 6 cyl. You are looking at a 2nd Gen Tacoma. Access Cab.

Sounds like catastrophic head gasket failure, and I've never heard of oil leaking externally from where the head meets the block, so that's a new one on me.
Make sure you have the head checked at a shop for warping or any cracks before you replace the headgasket and reassemble - that head might be no good. I'm wondering if the trouble code for the temperature sensor is simply related to the headgasket (and if it was overheated).

Im thinking the same thing about the temperature sensor. I haven’t ran it since I heard a weird pop sound coming from under the motor. Then looked at my temperature gadge and it went to just under the red so I pulled over and shut it down. Steam came out from under the hood. I could smell burnt coolant faintly. So I started looking under the hood. Oil was everywhere. I had hand towls behind my seat. Also 3 rolls of paper towels. So I started wiping as much oil as I could get up. Because i really couldn’t tell where the oil was coming from.

Oil in cooling system sounds like a head gasket. You can always do a cooling system pressure test to be sure.

Get a cooling system pressure tester from a parts store. You can rent them. Make sure you bring your radiator cap so you can also get the right adapter. Use tester to build pressure in cooling system and see if it holds pressure. You can probably find a YouTube video on it. If it doesnt hold pressure you want to remove spark plugs before you spin motor over or else you could break something from water in the cylinders.
If it passes that get a ton of engine degreaser. I like simple green. Wash the oil of the motor really good until its clean enough you might be able to tell where the oil is leaking from.
