I kept my Taco and traded in my Corvette for an FJ. It is an awesome off-road vehicle. Modding two Toyotas is cheaper than one Corvette.

I went the other way. Traded my FJ for a Tacoma double cab. I loved the FJ but after a few years it just seemed kind of corny. Also my dog rides with me all the time and the rear of the FJ was like being in a small cave, the dog was not happy back there. The rear side windows don't even open up.

    Just noticed this thread...
    i agree with Manny /\
the fj works a lot better for the fiance and I. I was tired of taking my prerunner out camping with the haunting thought of getting stuck somewhere or being limited to where we can go alone.(in no way am i stating that the fj is un-stopable, but this thing is far more superior to my locked prerunner and for what we like to do) The 4x really helps and i will get more recreational use out of the FJ. I bought the tacoma because i wanted a sexy reliable truck to haul my quad around...then i lost interest in riding and noticed that we like taking the truck out more than the quad. (should have bought a 4x tacoma in the first place, there...i said it)
I didn't tow...and rarely need the bed space...in which case i had a short bed...so..not much room to begin with
if anything I can always borrow my father's superduty long bed if a truck is needed
Just as Manny mentioned above, i was able to upgrade to a 4x4 fj .a-trac,locker..yada yada with better financing, lower monthly, and i got an awesome trade in. how many dealerships are offering 23,800 trade in for an 08 prerunner these days? if you had an 08 prerunner would you take that trade in offer ?
you may ask...why not buy a 4x tacoma? I was just ready for a different car and have always had a little boy crush on lifted fj's.

    loved the prerunner..
love the 4x fj lifted on km2's even more  no regrets here

I was thinking about it. My g/f has an '09 and I love it, but I need a bed to haul shit. So now, I'm looking at double cab Tacos and Tundras.

I love having a 4x4 taco i can just throw shit in the bed w/out having to worry about beating the crap out of the interior. I had 2x Jeep srt8's ( 1 lemon'd ) and i always worried about putting my snowboards in there and having the edges jack up the interior. With the long bed i just throw it in and its all good. I do have to say though unless the truck is 4x4 its almost useless to get a 4x2 pickup. And even than lets face it, your woman can't drive it because you have to "switch" it to 4x4. Women like 3x things..

    1. all wheel drive
    2. they like to sit high
    3. Must make other girls jealous

lol, you have those 3x covered you'll be a happy man

Third item bolded for emphasis because it's so drastically important. Queen-bee bullshit and suburban nesting instincts in the mid-late 20s to 30s are what have kept me out of serious relationships. I have meaningful shit to do. Well, I mean, that and my misogynistic and abrasive personality.
