Yeah just flux buddy! Once I get home I'll post up one of the ugliest welds I got (probably my first one lol) and the last ones i did which came out WAY better!

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
That’s what a grinder or textured paint is for!

All you need is to weld some threaded bolts in strategic places. Also think about adding an Awning. That’s one of the best mods for the money you can do.
So with that said, don’t mount anything to the top edges of your rack, so you can choose to have an awning later. Also, a RTT will extend over the other side. So be conscience of this.
Fire extinguisher should be mounted as close to the cab as possible and on the drivers side.
Mount the max Trax on the side, rotopax on the other. Then use bed rail mounts for the shovel and hi-lift.

You may want to add shielding gas if you plan to produce strong welds. Its not just about looking pretty, but keeping things 'clean.' Admittedly pretty does not always equal strong, just as ugly does not always indicate weak.

For full disclosure I am not an experienced or expert welder. I'm an extremely green self taught youtube wannabe welder that also currently runs flux only.

Sounds about right! I'll just mount the awning to the cab maybe? Also one of my goals is to have a batwing awning or something like it so I wont be with my blue tarp and have @BadgerBoy trip all over my lines

If one of your goals is to get a 270 Batwing, this will need to be mounted to the bedrack, so it can extend around the back of the truck vs the cab. Personally, I think you can’t have too many awnings.

You should have seen my awning take flight at the beach. I was telling Brad, oh yeah mine barely needs to get tied down ever. Then woosh!! I got lucky that the poles did not bounce all over my hood.

I get you brotha I actually just went this route since flux is cheaper in a way and I wanted to see if I was actually going to be able to pull it off but now that I got the hang of things might be moving on up for sure! Thanks for the advice though!

But hey man fr you got lucky nothing happened to the PRO!
Yeah true once I get the RTT on I'll see where to weld some brackets for the awning and clearance issues!

Now if I was only as lucky with dealing with my GF...
By day, she is a civilized therapist that eats gluten free...by night she is a wild belly dancing freak, who is looking to take over my Xbox!

Pic dump, beware!!! Had an awesome time at Windrock for my birthday this weekend  Got to put my high clearance rear, full skids, and winch to work. Also was able to install my wireless switch panel right before the trip and got to test it out; it worked flawlessly the whole trip! No body damage or broken parts from anyone in my group, and we all made it back in one piece. Successful Windrock trip if you ask me!

Sweetness bro! Thanks for the pics, Windrock is a huge playground. One of the only parks you can ride like 3hrs away and still be inside the park ;)

No fun breaking down out there, it could be a two day affair getting back.
My buddies and I blew up a diff and tore off a knuckle on an FJ80 buggy, was all fun until, 8hrs later we came limping into camp.

Yeah I hear that, definitely have to be aware of vehicle capabilities and limitations, especially if ya drove it there

Right?! Ever had to finish a Black trail with only one front tire and using a log strapped to your axle as a sled!
Holy balls that was nuts! Oh did I mention it had to be done in reverse. Lol

    Let’s Talk Skids.
Who has them? Whatcha got? Likes...Dislikes?

About to get a set for the 3rd gen and would like to get y’alls opinion.

I currently have the TRD one that came on my Pro. Which I do like, and have recently powder-coated because my buddy was bored and felt it looked better.

All my experience with skids is using Ironpig, so there ya go.

    Thoughts?
