That place looks pretty awsome! Big ass fish. Not used to having to check the water quality though. Can it be pretty sketchy to enter on some days? Are the boat inspection and launch fees for canoes and paddle boards? Kinda vague on the site. Its nbd just a few bucks but I dont want to somehow slip by then get nailed for not having all the stuff. And one last question... September 20th?

I haven't been to Del Valle in years... as for water, yeah not sure if I'd want to go for a swim with that e.coli thing but then again, that is only for one side according to the report and has dissipated. :notsure:

Here is what I found for fees and launching -

For fishing - so many spots to check out around here and out towards the Sac Delta... If you want to fish, you can definitely find a spot. Couple of weeks back I headed out to Richmond near the ferry terminal. Lots of smelt and stingrays. Buddy hooked a ray.

You're located at that red dot.

Grab some food, water, a shovel, toilet paper, a tent, 0 degree sleeping bags, sleeping pads, reflectix, some cold weather gear, 10 gallons of extra fuel.

Go to any of those green spots and keep driving until you have a good time.

Download GaiaGPS and pay for the annual subscription. It's an offline GPS Maps app which will allow you to record all the roads you go on and drop pins to mark locations you'll want to go back to. It also keeps an updated map layer for US Forestry Service boundaries, so you know what's private property vs whatever's good for dispersed camping (link for more info).

The biggest change is getting used to the lack of humidity out here on this coast. It's nothing like that area.

See all those squiggly lines? those are all forest roads. If there's no locked gate in front of them, drive right through and explore. If you plan on doing anything stupid like get stuck and/or stranded. Grab a ResQLink GPS Beacon and/or Garmin InReach so you can ask for help.

Guess we need to get a trip planned and you can meet some of us crazies and wheel a bit, find some new spots to explore for you.

Lake Tahoe is awesome! I'm always trying to go. Yosemite NP and Sequoias NP are also great. Worth checking out if you've never been and like that kind of stuff.

Welcome to Norcal! I joke and call San Ramon "Fancy Ramon", very nice safe place to live, but also the type of place where you could get jay walking tickets, or a ticket for doing construction before 7am / on a weekend.

Great areas to explore are going to be like 2-3 hr drives away. Marine Headlands / Muir Woods / Mt Tam / Muir beach is good for day trips, and just right in the North Bay.
Tahoe is an easy win, lots of family friendly cabins or hotels in South Lake (south shore where CA meets NV). Check our Emerald Bay and surrounding areas around - it does get crowded here. Lots of rivers & reservoirs all around Tahoe National forest.

You can stay on the Nevada side in south Tahoe and hit up some casinos. Heavenly snow park is right there too so you can ski in the winter. Squaw Valley and Northstar are also great snow parks and they open up during summer and you can ride down the trails on a mountain bike. Super awesome.
