Thats according to Cars Direct, not a press release by Toyota. The new price will be $50,885 for the base model 2020 TRD Pro 4Runner. Is this an omen for the 2020 Tacoma Pro?

Toyota added more doodads, so they added more costs, it wouldn't surprise me if the price goes up. That's just the way it works, unless they got rid of some stuff, offsetting costs, which I doubt they did, or would offer up that info.

Every 4Runner came on a boat from Japan. Tacoma is built in Texas.

    Tariffs and Exchanges rates.

I believe the 2020 4Runner is the models first year with safety sense. I would imagine this would increase pricing a bit as well.

Supposedly Tacomas are also getting options like electric adjustable drivers seat, 360 cameras, and new stereo. I would expect those to add to the cost/sell, but we'll see, it's all speculation right now.

I've been waiting for this, the typical annual price increase is usually >$500. 4Runner get TSS now, Tacoma gets power seats, both get new large infotainment system. You might be able to get a SR5 for a reasonable price jump but I wont be surprised to see a 2k jump on the optioned models. Prices are getting crazy high and people are still buying them. This will change some peoples minds that were thinking of an upgrade just for the headlights, seats, or car play.

I have read people are keeping their vehicles longer. Prices are getting stupid high. At some point I would think sales will slow down.

Like I stated earlier, the Tundra has increased in price as well. See RobMotive YouTube video.

We'll see how the trim levels break out, but these items (and LED lights) will likely be additional cost on all but the Pro model. Maybe rolled into an upgrade package. It will be expensive.

The 4Runner price hike is pretty significant, especially on a platform that’s a decade old next year.

Just another reason not to buy a PRO.

Guess the 4Runners will be collecting dust too.

Isn't a Pro model everything but a base model...?

Prices of Tacoma’s increased when they introduced TSS. I believe Toyota is adding apple/ android play to all models in 2020, so that’s prolly some of the price increase

On many things yes, but not on cars. In fact cars and trucks are cheaper than ever and represent more value in real dollars than ever before. So its always so weird to me when people complain about car prices, they either don't understand basic inflation or are looking at the past with extremely rose colored glasses.

    Case and point original window sticker for a 1996 4Runner SR5 4x4 ($31,893):
    96 4RUNNER 003.jpg

    $31,893 in 1996 dollars = $52,066 in today's dollars.

Ironically we're in a thread talking about a new FULLY LOADED Pro model and sticker will be <$51k.

So in REAL terms a 2020 4Runner pro with locking diff, crawl control, onboard radar units, like 35 computers, cameras, touch screens, 8 airbags, ultra high tensil strength steel, JBL stereo, push button start with proximity sensors, etc etc etc etc. You get ALL of that equipment for LESS $ than a basic ass 1996 with a freaking cassette player.

What do you think has more VALUE a basic 1996 or a loaded 2020?? Park them next to eachother see which one you think cost more to engineer and build, which one has more costs in materials and design?? Then you'll start to realize we're living in the golden age of value when it comes to vehicles ;)

the interesting post above with the inflation calender. It does appear you are getting a lot more for your monies relative purchasing power. I assume the perception of it being expensive also has to do with wages not keeping up with inflation of durable goods.

Doubt it will be collecting dust. My guess is there will be a long list of people waiting to buy the 2020 Pro models (4R, Tacoma, Tundra). This time next year people will be trying to upgrade parts to make their trucks look like a 2020. New headlights, seats, etc.
