I was planning on getting the “stage 1” 402s. I’ll end up loading about 500lbs between the cap, toolbox with tools, and other small things. I was planning on getting the springs to sag about a quarter inch so there isn’t too much rake over the front. I had a talk with headstrong off-road and they’re telling me the 402s have 7 main springs 2 overload springs. The stage 1 leafs will give 3” lift with a 3-400lb load, stage 2 a 3” lift with 5-700lb load, and stage 3 is 3” with 700lb+ load

looking to get a tacoma. i am starting to catch the tacoma bug, bad, i'm afraid
want double cab with a long bed and a hard shell.
I've decided that instead of buying one second home I'd like to car camp in lots out of the way locations in wv, pa, upstate ny, & new england. maybe the south/ southwest in jan & feb.

I work from home, but don't have to be home to work.

it seems like a 2nd gen tacoma might be the best way to do that. i could start with a hard shell, then switch to a slide in camper if I...or my wife...felt like she...or we....needed more creature comforts.

I had car camped a lot between the colorado Rockies to the Sierras and up to the white mountains in younger years...which i time stamp as having ended 5 years ago ;D

I’m not out towards Leola much, but I am driving around a good bit and I go from Lititz area to Greenfield for work so maybe me? :notsure: Did any of the ones have black rims?? If so it might’ve been me, I haven’t seen many with non-stock rims

I was just messing around. I bought some wheels and some guys are pitching in and moving them (TacomaWorld Express) closer to me so I can pick them up. It's just a thing we as a great community do for each other.

Yea, I'm not a musician but I recognize the PRS guitar reference. Apparently they are worth the money.

I saw you post asking about either a 4Runner or a Tacoma. I've had a Runner, and now a Taco. Either one will take you anywhere you want or need to get to off road when they are properly equipped. Either one will tow a off road equipped trailer set up with any amount of camping gear you and your family might need such as a roof top tent (aka RTT). A hard shell cap on a Taco will offer similar security and storage for you and your cargo as a Runner. A RTT will also work on a Taco or Runner. If you need more comfort look at teardrop trailers or something bigger. The bigger they are the more comfort they offer, but at a cost too, both financially and in how far into the isolation you can go. So the only limiting factors with either are your skill, capabilities and desire.

If you're leaning more towards a truck though over an SUV, you should really look hard at that Tacoma @HomerTaco Craig responded to you with the link back up on post #43335!

If I had found this forum 2 years ago before I bought mine instead of after, I would have already been enjoying off roading instead of taking this long and still not being completely off road ready even though I've been trying to work on that this whole time.

    Just sayin'

@RobP62 i see you’re trying to TW Express some wheels. I’m in Lancaster area and my sister lives in Camp Hill so I get that direction as well. So if you ever need a final leg for something let me know! I haven’t helped a TW Express yet but I’d be down if something was through my area

X's 2 exactly what he said. I'm in the same boat. Had I known, I would have bought one that was built already. If it is done right and maintained it is definitely cheaper than building. It's hard to exactly what you want when someone else build it though. The main thing is figure out exactly how you want to use it and go from there. It's much cheaper than changing your mind.

That's very generous of you Nate! You're actually about an hour and some north of me up 222 which is totally doable. @Nimble9 is the OP of the Northeast Tacomaworld Express thread here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/northeast-tw-express-thread.461780/#post-13720681

The first page will give you a better feel for how big this really is.

We all try to make these runs so that the distances make sense and are as convenient as possible for all parties. No one ever asks anyone to do more than they are capable.

Those wheels I bought are going to change hands at least 5 times before reaching me. I think that's very cool but it all is only acceptable to me as long as no one is inconvenienced.

Lancaster is easy for me to get to so yea, if you sign up we could move things from there to anywhere around the Baltimore beltway. I also willing to go up to Delaware.

It's how I give back for all the help I've received here

These trucks work fine in stock form. I'd rather wheel a stock truck on easy stuff and be a camera bitch for the hard stuff than sit out all together and look at pictures on the intertubes.

Guys don't be obsessed with everything being perfect.

Get out on the trails and change what you learn needs changed from your experience to suit your needs. Don't listen to everyone else telling you what you need.

Most people probably don't even need 33s to have fun. Some people aren't going to drive on anything that even needs real skid plates. If you're playing on forest roads you don't even need sliders.

This is the reason my truck looks the way it does. I wanted to do those trails over THERE and made my truck capable of doing them.
