Yea the weld is definitely stronger than the surrounding material.

Why not just take a bunch of measurements of the existing ones location and then match those when you weld on the new one. Should be able to get pretty close.

Thats what I'm going to do. I'll have to find some reliable reference points. I think the hardest thing is going to be cutting the old one off. Making sure I don't cut too deep. I also think it's probably easiest to remove my bedside.

I also think it will be an excuse to buy a welder. It's been a couple years since I welded, but with some practice I think I'll be able to pull this off. I have reached out to some people who have welders. Main issue I am finding is that people don't want my truck in there driveway for a day or so.

I have a bay in the garage I can open up for you to get it done. Our third bay is typically a project space. My brothers truck was in there for like 8 months... Or I am happy to loan my welder to you for a week or so.

There is a specific measurement that Tim gives you for locating the rear hangar. Its measured from the front hangar eye to the rear hangar eye. I dont know why 59 3/4 comes to mind but I tossed his instruction sheet long ago. Ask Tim...my bet is he knows it ;)

Dang that’s a good one. I’ve bent mine pretty good crawling and put plate overlays on all sides after straightening. Been holding up good until the rubicon and I bent them again. Time for more reinforcements for me. This seems like a freak break, but props to Tim and dmz for being willing to send a whole new hangar. They’ve always been great to work with.

Yea, I sent Tim some pics and he said no problem and he will take care.

One of the down sides to a sua conversion is the occasional bending/ dragging. For me it is usually the front hanger and the Mr beefy spring plates. The rear ones are usually tucked up far enough. I noticed my passenger leaf pack was slightly twisted the other day while I was bring in my trash cans. That is when I found the damage.

I am actually impressed that this didn't leave me stranded on the side of the road or in the bush last weekend. I drove some 200 mi last weekend with at least 120 off-road in a combo of 4 hi/ lo. The shackle bolt is literally holding this thing together. Truck seems to handle like normal which is why I was so surprised the other day to find this damage.

Stuff like this makes me want to bring some 1/4 plate, an electric grinder, and a tiny stick welder if I go out in some tougher places!

Wow I hardly ever if not ever have drug the front mount. The mr beefy spring plates and rear hangars all the time in the rocks. The hangars hang super low lol.

We definitely did some trail welding on the rubicon. Not my rig, but probably the best built jeep in my group had left the factory trac bar mount relocated with shitty welds while everything else was built beefy as hell. Broke off and we couldn’t get the trail welder to work right so it broke off a second time. Found someone who said they could work the welder and didn’t do much better than us.

What I’m getting at is practice with your trail welder at home so you know how it works and what settings to use

If I wasn't in the middle of finishing my basement, I would reach out to dirt designs to see if the 3 link kit was available yet... I'll fix it for now, and then maybe start collecting link parts. :anonymous:

BTW totally not LT truck related but if anyone in SD is into MTB and likes trails with jumps and drops etc look up " Evenflow Trail Crew " on FB - and send me a request. I have a private trail I've been building on 50 acres out in Ramona for about 8 years and if your willing to put in a couple hours of work with a shovel there is always an open invite...

    Here's a POV vid a friend shot recently : upload_2019-8-9_13-9-6.jpg
