My 09 Tacoma had 35k and factory pads were in good shape never a spongy brake petal my 2012 has almost 7k on it and is pretty firm however....

My mom was in town with her 2010 rav4 and I ran to the store in it and felt the breaks grinding so when I got home I popped of the wheel for a looksy her pads were shot almost to the backing front rotors looked good but slight worn the petal was firm but after I changed the front pads the grinding was gone but the petal was very spongy it would stop but I am a perfectionist I checked the fluid before and after oviously the fluid was higher after I pushed the piston back but not over the max I never opened the lines. I handled the calipers very gentle and had no leaks I was very careful since its my moms car and she drives like a bat out of hell

I was gonna bleed them but I don't know how air could have gotten in the lines wanted some thought before also I found on a rav4 forum that when this happens it has to be flushed by the dealer with a special bleeding tool (my idea of a special tool is a 10 mm wrench and my wife stepping on the brake petal my little hose and some fresh fluid in a clear container)

It just fustrated me because I must have changed 100 pairs of brakes and reclined and rebuilt the brake system In my dads f 150

    Any advice???

Yes I know this is a taco forum but I'm sure some of y'all have played with other models
