    Hi everyone
I have a second gen Tacoma, 2010 with 31,000 miles, 4cyl regular cab standard transmission base model, i was very happy when the local dealer told me that i qualify for a new frame, however they are pushing me hard to replace the steering rack, steering shaft, power steering hoses and e-brake assembly and the muffler all to the tune of about 3,000 dollars.i told them the most i can afford is the rack and the power steering hoses. i haven't had the chance to get to the dealer to see the state of the steering rack, and my e brake has worked perfectly for the year that I've owned it so i cant see how that needs replacing because i always park in neutral and use the ebrake
So i told them monday id like to see the steering rack and they aren't entirely sure if the shaft NEEDS to be replaced. unfortunately the warranty that i purchased with my vehicle doesn't cover corroded parts so im shit out of luck.
thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated Ive only owned the truck since November and put 10k on it so Im still very new in the Tacoma Scene.

Ignore the dealer, only have them replace what you know needs to be done, and what you can afford.

With 31K miles, forget it. They are definitely padding the bill; it sounds like they want you to replace stuff they think they might have a hard time removing with when they do the swap. If the steering rack has signs of a mild leak, darkened boots on the bottom, that's ok- they pretty much all weep some over time and you add an ounce of fluid every year.
