Hope everyones doing well, my name is Jesse and I'm moments away from picking up my "certified pre-owned" 2013 base 2wd 4cyl access cab Tacoma. My hopes are to benefit from the forum with answers to future questions and concerns.

For now the biggest question I have is, can I lift the truck to a modest truck hight? The one I got sits low kind of like the xrunner, It's fully stock so I'm hoping I have options. Also, if anyone has a truck like mine with mods please share some pics!

    Kind regards
    JETACO13

Welcome to TW! You have what we refer to is a 5 lug tacoma which when searching lifts, are different than the 6 luggers. The 5 lug tacomas sit lower due to the leaf springs being under the rear axle instead of above. Search the forum for " lifting a 5-lugger" for your answers.

Welcome to Tacoma World, Jesse! If your experience here is anything like mine then the time you have your truck will correlate directly with the decreasing funds in your bank account.

    Reason behind wanting the lift....

    1. Will be used at the hunting lease (mostly dry flat land )
    2. I live in Houston and streets flood from time to time.
    3. Houston has pot holes EVERYWHERE.

I’m two hours north of you, and I travel into Houston every week — the roads continue to get worse every change of season. It’s weird, you’ll see road crews out there working, but somehow they’re never working on anything I regularly drive on, haha. The construction is just gonna last forever, I think. Some of the roads in Spring are going to become an off road park before long.

Why not put the money towards a prerunner or 4x4? I wouldnt waste good money on lifting. In my opinion get some good tires if settled on that truck.

I have 5 lug 2010 access cab... great truck, itll serve you well.

I don't need the 4X4, i live in flat land Houston lol and the hunting lease is also flat flat flat. I dont need the v6, I drive alot of miles for work and to the hunting lease so the 4cyl was ideal.

If the lift comes with too many cons I won't do it.

Plus the truck was 17k drive out with a 50k mile bumper to bumper warrenty. I thought it was a deal i couldnt pass up.

You do realize that a Prerunner and 4x4 can be purchased with the 4 cyl? I get not needing the 4x4 but the Prerunner would gain you way more ground clearance.

I know, they are just hard to find. And I didnt have time to search or travel in order to purchase one. My search started with the hopes of finding a manual transmission 4cylinder, talk about a needle in the hay.
