I have a 2019 SR5 4WD with 1,200 miles. Significant vibration on braking. Took it back to dealership adn they say its OK. Contacted Toyota - no help.

No issues with my 2019 OR-DCLB. Transmission is fine by me as well. Get OVTune if you want perkier shifts. The one thing I have recently noticed is a harmonic whine that comes and goes very predictably when I tow my boat (about 2800 lbs). Last for about 3 seconds; goes away; comes back. Not sure if this has been experienced by others or where its coming from (rear diff?). May post this question as separate thread.

I think the rear diff is a pretty widespread issue covered in other threads.

I picked mine up (2019 OR), its a smooth truck other then the bed being a bit jumpy from bran new leafs and shocks... I'm very pleased with it so far.

I've only put 300 miles on it so far.

    It's complicated.
Can you describe what the "Significant vibration on braking" feels like (and from where?) Is it the entire truck? Is that through the brake pedal, etc...?

    Thanks.

Yes, I need to keep an eye on this. I traded a V6 Rav4 for my Tacoma and it had major issues with the differential howl that Toyota covered for some vehicles but not mine (granted, the truck had 170K miles on it when I brought it in). I only hear this harmonic when its under a tow load.

My truck was one of the first 16s built, in 2015. It has been lifted for 60k miles, still no issues today at over 120k. Never had any Vibes or diff problems. Only water leaking I got was from the prinsu because I didn’t seal the holes. Trans was funky for a while then I learned to live with it, got the update at 99k and it’s been perfect since. It’s been a great truck, test drive one for a good while and go with your gut!

I always take stuff I read in forums, comment sections, etc. with a big grain of salt. People who are unhappy with something are just far more likely to post than people who are satisfied. Forums like this one will always skew a lot more negative than reality. The vast majority of Tacomas have none of the issues that people are complaining about here. I'd say that goes for every automobile being made these days.

2018 DCLB OR 4x4, 20,500 miles. No vibration issues. I love driving and using this truck. Just returned from a 1500 mile trip to Cape Breton, NS towing a pop-up camper. Very hilly area. The truck towed and worked beautifully. 14-16mpg depending on speed w 2 sea kayaks on roof, 1900lb trailer. You’re going to love your truck!

2016 DCSB, 66K miles, I’ve been driving (legally) for almost 40 years and have owned many vehicles. By my standards, my truck has had no leaks, driveline or brake vibrations or any other problems. I even think the transmission is “OK”, not perfect, after one TSB update. The engine’s powerband is more of a problem, lots on top but at highway speeds, not much power at the rpm in the gear which the transmission picked. ECT helps a bit, using S mode to pick the right gear helps a lot more, but regardless of how you get there, I’m sometimes frustrated when the engine needs 3500 rpm to hold the speed limit on a grade. But the power over 4K rpm is excellent.

2019 here and do have decel vibes from 25-15mph. No diff howl, tranny performs ok in ECT and S4. When the engine gets up into 4-6k, it really goes, it’s addicting.

I hate to say it: he's right!
Great community here too, but lots of folks scratchin' for an itch.

My 2019 is great. Life is short, drive it, maintain it, fix it when it breaks, and enjoy! There's so much more to life than questioning why an engineer at Toyota chose to lock up the torque converter in X gear, at X RPM, at X input of throttle, at X altitude, at X angle, at X% humidity, at X degree of timing, at X° air inlet temp, at X blah blah. Press the gas and drive the muthafr or get rid of the dam thing.

    Rant off, I feel better:D

Been in 3x for the vibes, it's better than it's ever been right now.
I wanted to say that this tranny really does seem to be learning me, night & day driving experience from May 19 to now, kind of has just gotten better & better in that arena.

2019 OR 4X4 DCSB. It drives great and is very quiet with no vibrations. Gear hunting and throttle lag appear to be self resolving the more I drive it The only changes I've made are a 2 in spacer in the front, TRD SEMA wheels, and BFG AT 265/70/17 tires. I really like the Tacoma after coming off my modded full size 4WD. It has a "just right" feel for me. I used to have a HiLux 4WD and a 4 Runner and I miss that Toyota quality and attention to detail.

I'll also say that since lots of Tacoma's are modded changes will cause... changes. OR tires tend to cause noise, vibration and steering differences in varying degrees. Suspension changes cause sound and handling changes, aftermarket gears tend to whine. Nothing happens in isolation.
