I just purchased some 80" All-Pro rock sliders for my truck. They are technically for a 79-95 pickup but they are the correct length so they will work just fine. The only thing that needs to be modified are the mounting bars. Does anybody have the length of these?

As you can see the front mounting bar on the ones I purchased is longer then the other 3:

And on the 95-04 Tacoma one they are all the same size with mounting plates (which I have, they just need to be welded on):

I just need to know what size the bars are on the Tacoma ones.

    Thanks!

Those are variable in length - All depends on how close you want them... Personally, I feel the longest straight tube should go under the cab pinch weld...

I plan on grabbing these for my truck as well. Anyone who knows how to install these will be able to cut the longer gusset off to match the others. But all 4 of them will probably need to be modified to to your liking.

    edited wrong info.

Ah interesting. I would leave it long but it doesn't sit against my frame properly, so I'll have to cut them all equal.

Cool. I was going to install them but I wasn't sure what the length should be, glad I can make them how I want.

Hmm, they came with the sliders, I guess if I don't need to put them on then I wont. I thought it might make installation easier with them on though.

    YES YOU DO.

The frames are made of pretty thin material, and a 1.75" tube does not have a lot of surface area to distribute the forces. You'll bend and destroy your frame.

Don't worry about exact measurements just yet.

The instructions for my 4xInnovations sliders went something like this: First, do NOT weld the 1/4" plate to the frame first. Weld the plate to the sliders, finish your welds, then weld the plates to the frame.

Just put the sliders up against your frame, use some jack stands to get the positioning to your liking, then measure the frame/tube distance and cut two tubes, iirc, I got tube #1 (far forward position) and tube #3 in position first. Get those welded in place first. Then measure the next 2 tubes (#2 and #4).

My tubes came longer than I wanted, I ended up cutting ~1" off them for a lower profile. The tubes were in two different lengths anyway because of the shape of the frame.

Also, make sure you can open all your doors before finishing your welds, lol...

I was going to put the plates oin the sliders first, that definitely made more sense to do it that way in my head. I also have gussets that came with them so I'll install those before welding to the truck too.

So your sliders didn't come with the tubes pre-welded on?

No, that was on purpose. That allowed me to set them at whatever angle I wanted. I ended up with a 10 degree (ish) tilt up with mine.

I wanted them as low profile with as much ground clearance as possible. This makes them more of a tripping hazard than a step, lol. I just had to re-learn how to get in and out of my truck.

The only slightly difficult part, aside from welding up-side-down, is welding the top of the plate to the frame. You are really just guessing what your pool looks like. That's better than not being able to get a good bead around the tubing, though.

Also, do most of your painting before welding to the frame. Just leave the last couple inches and the plate bare. That's really the only way to get complete paint coverage of the sliders - do it before the body is in the way.

If I remember correctly the last one is slightly longer because the frame bends in at the last post but I think its like 1/8'' - 1/4''? something like that. When you hold the slider up to the frame you'll see what I'm talking about.
