Stock radiator's a good one. It does the job it was designed to do and isn't overly expensive, plus it bolts right in.

    Edit: Part

Order a denso brand. Don't buy from oreilly/autozone. Their radiator core is maybe 3/4 inch thick only.

Stock radiators last a long time. Bought a radiator from Advance that lasted 5 years. It has a lifetime warranty and they made it good. But the hassle of dealing with another radiator change gets old. I did buy a NAPA radiator 10 years ago that is still running. Had another unknown aftermarket fail after 5 years.

Better to go with OEM Quality.

Yes the Denso seems to be a quality unit that many of us have ordered and used for a years now. But as mentioned before, the possible not visible damage in shipping is the scary part. But my Denso radiator did come very well packaged with plenty of Styrofoam and was a great fit. I ordered through Amazon Prime.

what is the approximate lifespan on original radiator?
I read somewhere on TW that 150k miles is about the time it starts getting iffy

As said in post #2, go with an OEM unit.
    You’ll be glad you did.

    Good luck.

Is the Denso OEM or does toyota have their own brand? I looked on a couple of toyota parts dealers websites and it says discontinued (#164100C024)

The new unit from Toyota is a Harrison... I didn't pay attention to what the original was.

The original is also a Harrison, as these tacos were made right here in US it made sense to use a local supplier. They are good decent quality supplier for oem. Denso also supplies good quality parts to auto manufacturers. But the OEM radiator in these Tacomas is made by Harrison and as Ritchie stated above it looks like Harrison is still supplying them to Toyota for OEM use in our 1st gens.

I think the DENSOs aren't OEM Toyota units anymore I would try to get the country of manufactor. I put an aftermarket cheapy radiator on my 22 RE and it didn't cool as efficient as an OEM I replaced with a genuine Toyota unit at extra cost but I was far happier.
