I was wondering the same thing. But I have to replace my Rack n Pinion first. I was considering rebuilding it with new seals (I spring a leak) but I’ve read horror stories about how some people’s shake and whatnot. Gonna go OEM on that sucker

Nah, Toyota didn't screw ya. If you didn't get the notice in the mail or if the service dept didn't mention it the dozens of times you've been in, then it didn't apply to yours. Service dept would've wanted to do them under recall because Toyota would've payed them decent money for an easy job, so dealer service didn't skimp on ya. The recall for the LBJs was only applicable to a small amount of Tacomas. I think it was after 97 model year anyways.
Do you know if your lower ball joints have play? Next time you're in for anything to service ask them to specifically check the lower ball joint play.

Not necessarily do you have to do uppers when you do lowers. Not sure why the two sides cost different. Make sure to use new bolts for them as well. 4 per lbj per side

Yep, check the uppers before replacing. Due to the design the uppers don't wear out nearly as quickly as the lowers do

    Toyota does some screwy pricing.
More important, those part numbers are for a 5 lug 2wd, completely different animal from a 4wd or 2wd Prerunner.

If you are 5 lug then carry on.

Use this site, as I understand it - it's the current one.

    https://partsfactory.camelbacktoyota.com

Enter your VIN in the search box and hit enter. Then search for what you need.

Yeah you should always get new bolts when you replace the LBJs.

The part number for the bolts is

    90119-10933

Have to buy 8 total...unless that assembly already comes with them.

When I ordered from camelback, no bolts. Had to order separate. His is a 97 and wasn't part of the recall. Recall applied to 2001-2004 models only (although I think it should've been earlier).

@GQ7227 Just message or call the parts dept - ask them if it includes bolts or not then order if the LBJs & bolts if you want to be on the safe side.

Just curious, do you carry spares(along with something to tap it out) in the event a bolt snaps on the trail? would that be excessive? lol... Serious q though - your truck is in the dirt way more than mine is (has been )

I have a bag specifically for bolts that I take with me along with my tools when on the trail, never know when you'll need one lol

Well if Toyota recalled 01-04 I'd say nope - different LBJs. Part#s different so not the same.

Here is info from the wayback machine...
