Valid concerns you have there, but my Macan came from the factory that way. Put it in manual mode and it stayed wherever you put it. All the way to redline and would bang off the limiter. And as Mat’s does.... only downshifting at risk of stalling.

Granted, this was in ‘sport mode’ whereas someone could easily not realize they were in an alternative drive mode in the taco.

They both behaved the same.... one came from factory, one by aftermarket.

Mat’s Probably thought this one through, and perhaps at this point recognizes the concern and 2.0 Final will be able to manage D differently.

<edit> technically I guess there’s another difference.... in D mode Mat’s does upshift normally, so there’s another difference.

I don’t have techstream and im like you, don’t really feel comfortable upgrading it by myself. Is the only way to get 04b04 is to go to the dealership? I have the of purple dongle and never updated when they came out. Will they upgrade it for me?

Ok if you don't understand how the current implementation of gearlock works do NOT flash the beta file.
This has been how gearlock worked since the beginning

VERY simple, regardless of where the shifter is if you press the ECT button IT WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT.

If you don't fully understand it just don't flash.

Also, the truck wont stall. If rpm drop low enough it will force a downshift.

Unlikely. The LC500 will not downshift in S no matter what rpm. I can lugg 900 rpm in 10th gear at full throttle.

Why, because the consumer is expected to know what they are using.

Just put 300 miles on 2.0 87 today. Ranging from stop and go, 45 mph zones, 65 mph zones, and 80+ on the interstate. Drove freaking PERFECT! I had a shutter this morning with only 12 miles on the tune, but the tune has definitely settled in. I think that when the actual release comes out and I can use my ECT mod again, I’m not sure if I will even want to use it anymore. Good work Mat. And yes I’ve posted this on the zendesk.

Yes, but isn’t Mat working on an ‘ECT-less’ version of gearlock? I bought the exact same solution in prep for final version of gear lock. Still happy with the purchase though because it frees up a switch slot for other things.

i keep an eye on this thread alot but don't post too much. i do have to say i've been on the tune since 1.01 and always had my complaints all the way up to 1.05. 1.05 was good but didn't care for the downshifting, bogged coming out of slow turns. after loading 2.0 i have to say for the first time loading all these tunes that matt nailed it. This is exactly what i was hoping the tune would get to eventually through all the improvements. It feels like it always has power no matter where the shifting or rpms sit. i believe toyota would almost double their sales if the truck drove like this off the floor, not smart on their part. Matt really got this right and I hope he is reaping the rewards cause he deserves it. im sure their was a ton of work to get to this point all the way from the beginning.

@jrdills , do you think 2.0 is downshifting to 2nd gear to get rid of the bogging coming out of a slow turn? I have the bogging issue on 1.05 (probably on stock as well) and found via scangauge that it would stay in 3rd gear on a slow turn making it bog when I gave it some gas. Sounds like another plus for the 2.0 tune.

Toyota should be embarrassed! Mike Sweers needs to give answers for this shame; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykk5Zoll46Y

I've been on 1.05 since released, settled on 91 base tune for +15,000 miles and was very satisfied with all the improvements over stock. I've been on 2.0 93 octane since release and this is what should have been developed by the factory. It's been the best thing I've done to my truck and happy to give @OVTune my support $$.

Anyone reading this that hasn't purchased yet; your reading this thread for a reason and if you have the means do not let hesitation get in the way to buy this tune. You'll have the 1.05 goodness and the future with 2.0 is a blinding road of awesome.

Yes that is exactly what mine was doing as well on 1.05. I purposely drove around town to test out the slow lugging/bogging feeling and i have not witnessed it with 2.0. I put about 100 miles on it so far. If it stays like this after the tune settles in i will be extremely happy.

This has been the absolute best my truck has been, by far. So much fun. Running 87 octane and my truck has startled me (in a good way) a few times now while I've had my foot into it.

Great work and thank you so much!

I've been tuned since the beginning and was very satisfied with 1.05. That being said, I've only got 100 or so miles on 2.0, but it's fantastic.
