I think the life span of your sensors are up. Some people replace them and some don’t. I will replace mine when they die. I like everything to work on my truck. I don’t put tape over blinking lights or put sensors in a pvc tube. I just fix it and move on.

Back in the olden days people actually had to now how to read a pressure gauge. You have 9 year old truck, I don’t think you can complain too much about a tpms sensor.

Check the spare it also has a sensor, could be low. I got 11 years out off my sensors before they quit.

Actually, they’re only like six years old, and one has been replaced in the last five years...

I got aftermarket 16” rims in 2013, and those came with sensors. My mechanic did not have one of those reader things at the time, and the Toyota dealer closest to me could not program them for some reason. I ended up bringing the truck to the dealer where we bought it new, about 30 minutes from our house, and they successfully programmed them.

One failed in 2014-2015 and was replaced. A dickhead BJ’s tire jockey broke one of my sensors in October 2017 and the dealer replaced them too. I went back to stock wheels in March 2019 and the factory sensors were dead so my mechanic swapped the ones from my aftermarket wheels to the stock ones.

So sounds like aftermarket sensors are the issue. Maybe they aren’t built well?

Yeah that button, must be an issue with the actual TPMS then!

The only thing I get done at the dealership is the annual inspection, and only because they waive the safety inspection fee and give me a free loaner car...

Their customer service is great, but their budget-friendliness leaves a lot to be desired!

It would not remain off if I had a leak, correct?

That $65 was for OEM sensors just to give you an idea of how much your dealer is sticking it to you.

I ordered 4 new TPMS sensors, when they arrived they all but 1 was open, and 1 off the boxes had part of another TPMS in it. I said fuck it! Sent them back... I'll have to stare at the light.

Why can't Toyota use sensor that are not mounted in the tires?

I'd assume those systems are more advanced.

I believe so, take look at your tires just in case for anything out of the ordinary

I stopped going to the dealer when they tried to charge me $1,700 for a full front brake job in March 2018 (calipers, pads, rotors, fluid, flush, and labor). My friend gave them a piece of his mind and threatened to stop bringing his BMW for service, and got the price drastically reduced
