I was thinking about doing something like this. Maybe flexible aluminum tubing coated in fiber glass to keep the tubing from being so much of a heat sink. My thought was to use the hole in the fender for this. Not sure how well a ram would work in that location. Being oriented down though should help with the mud/snow problem.

    I'm afraid I haven't had the time. I've been working 6 days a week for a while.

Ok, I've had some time to think about this. I'm still just spit-balling, but here's what I'm thinking.

Get a new fiberglass hood with a scoop, I'm eying the one from customglassworks. http://www.glassworksunlimited.com/19to20totasc.html

Then molding an enclosure for the existing air filter and an intake piece for the underside of the scope. From the hood scoop I was planning on using automotive air hosing to connect that to an air chamber to get moisture and debris out of the air. http://www.avonauto.com/ah_main.shtml

I'm thinking something similar to a pea trap in a sink. I'd connect the hose to a pipe adapter then to a T junction. The T junction would be a larger size then the hose. That way the air would slow down and should drop debris and water. The bottom of the T would have a short section of pipe and a screw on cap so the trap could be cleaned out. The last connector on the T would go to the enclosure for the filter.

    Ideas, questions, thoughts?

EDIT: My main concern is that the scoop on the glassworks hood won't allow enough air flow without the truck moving. It looks kinda small.

At least on the 2nd gen that hood scoop is not in a high pressure area so it would do absolutely nothing...been talked about for the 2nd gen already :) try for yours and see what happens..
