Sorry in advance but I a newlywed Tacoma owner. 2 months ago I bought a 2009 Tacoma with 37k miles. Am I eligible to have the free inspection on the frame and possible replacement?

Yes, as long as it doesn't have a rebuilt, salvage, or flood damaged title.

Where you asked the question if you are eligible, I thought I would add that you have 12 years from "date of first use" or the day it was drive off the dealership lot. I would use your VIN# to find the "date of first use" and make sure you have it inspected 12 years from that date.

As an example, if your Tacoma has a first use date of January 2009, you then have until January 2021 to have it inspected and qualify for a frame replacement.

Yes. Ask around here for what dealerships are the best in your area. Some dealers do lots of frame swaps, have the process all figured out and are happy to help out the customer. Other dealers have done 1 or none and will give you all kinds of excuses why you're not eligible or if they do the frame swap, they'll create lots of problems.

So it's too late for my 2006 to be reinspected?

I know this is a crazy idea but you could get your frame and underside oiled yearly like most responsible owners and would not have to deal with this problem and get years of use out of your truck.

Yes I read but I am sick and tired of listening to all the whining about the big bad Tacoma's that have rusted frames and all is Toyota's fault. Go back and read and look at the pictures of these 80 pages of whining and did you not notice this when servicing the truck. Bottom line is that all manufacturers including GM and Ford have frames that rust - they are steel you know. Dana Corp made them for all these companies and the only thing is that they did not paint or coat the frames properly and I have seen them rusted through just as much on other brands like GM and Ford but Toyota was the only company to have a class action suit against them. As I understand Dana quit making frames. The new ones are made the same but now they dip the frames with better paint to get better coverage BUT they are still going to rust especially in salt belts whether you like it or not. Is Toyota going to replace them forever - I think not. I don't have to lighten up as my frame looks like new because I look after it. My point is that most of you whiners should coat your undercarriage with any oil based fluid and count your blessings you got a new frame from Toyota as you did not deserve it in the first place as you spent thousands of dollars on big wheels, lift kits, bumpers etc. but were too stupid to spend $100 annually on oil spray.

Dammit Uncle Bob, he's not watching the thread, he is 'listening'. ;)
Slow day, hot out, I 'listened' to a few of his posts. lol!
A say again, the lady just got her truck and was asking for advice. So give good advice, or STFU.

Damn Jemm63 sorry to ask a question. I have read through most of the thread before I sent my post. Im new to tacomaworld and didnt know i was suppose to "watch" the thread. Wasn't quiet certain so I asked a question. I believe this is why we have threads, to help each other out.
Next, I'm a guy, not a lady. No biggie, just thought I would throw that out there. To me, my frame looks like it was taken care of, but like any truck, it has some surface rust. Im no expert though so I figured if it is free to get inspected, it's worth it.

Just took my 2009 4cyl reg cab in for a frame inspection. Service manager comes in and tells me I get a new frame!

$100 deductible for rusted/broken parts, everything else covered.

If it weren't for this forum I would've had no idea this was a thing. Big thanks!

$100 deductible for rusty/broken parts, that's new. They told you that? Did they show you where it says that in writing?

They kept the paperwork saying they needed some reference number that was on it. Didn't even need to pay for my oil change.

Service manager explained it all to me pretty well. That's how I understood it but I was also super excited so I may have misinterpreted it.

Will keep y'all posted on that.
