Only two and a half years though.

Yeah I could have sworn I’ve done it before but when I went to change the filter it wasn’t where I thought it was...

I do my wife’s car every year. Oh well.

All of you running snorkels or have rerouted your intake to the cowl, have you had issues with the smog visual inspection? Seen conflicting comments and looking for real world experience (not speculation) from yall.


Modifying or tampering with a vehicle's engine can reduce the functionality of its emission controls. As such, California and CARB have established an anti-tampering law, Vehicle Code Section 27156 (VC 27156). The act of adding any aftermarket part, including a cold air intake, is considered an act of tampering with a smog-controlled engine. In other words, you could be breaking California law by adding an aftermarket cold air intake onto their vehicle, unless that cold air intake has received a CARB-issued exemption

This is for a cowl setup. Guy failed me due to not FACTORY setup/location as per what you have posted up.

I looked at the guy and he said I know why you did that, but, not jeaperdising my liscense.

 

AFAIK, the airbox isn't modified, so it's ok. All I've done is relocate where the air is sourced from, I didn't modify the airbox, filter, MAF, etc... Granted, I haven't had to smog mine yet, but I would certainly verify the visual is ok with the tech before waiting for them to pull it in.

 

Which one of you medaling kids has the plug on a new Dometic?

 

Box isn't modified, all stock setup, just rerouted.

Went home and put the factory elbow back on and was good then.

Thanks man. Did you just route it back to the stock input location, then go back and pass smog, and then retoute back to cowl?

 

See, my compressor is mounted where the factory elbow goes. I still have it, but won't be putting it on for smog proposes.

 

Yes sir. He said just leave your shit in the cowl setup, just need to see the factory hooked up.
