If your talking about the pop n lock, I would read reviews on here, they are prone to breaking, if your tailgate is to tight or the mechanism hangs up, it will break, the working part is plastic.
I used a hose clamp until I got tired looking at it, so I put the Anti theft devise on, but now I converted the 3rd gen tailgate assist to my tailgate so now I have to make a hybrid Anti theft devise for that mod

    Using a stainless hose clamp.

I would like to have the key lock on the latch though.

Of course if I get that then I need to get a locking hard top.

Then I'll have to get a rack. And no rack is complete without a couple of kayaks haha!

I guess count me on those with positive reviews with the PopnLock. I've been using 2 different versions PopnLock(separate key, now coded for OEM key) for about 6 years without issues. I think the only time I even looked at the hose clamps was when I installed them. That area is somewhat hidden out of view when the tailgate is open.

Does a softopper, bed rack, and 2 kayaks count?

On the right side of the tailgate, there's a cup looking part that has a slot in it. Open the tailgate to about the 45 degree point and the right side of the tailgate slides right off. Any kind of antitheft device covers the slot. Kind of like closing the gate so the cows can't escape. The left tailgate hinge doesn't have a slot.
