I know I'm a little late on this but, I would utilize Tim's replacement and add some plate..... try seeing if Deaver still offer's their "Baja Bushings". aka a spherical bushing to replace the standard leaf spring bushing. Run those in the rear and it may take the load off your hangers when articulating. Make sure you run the standard bushing up front, doubling up on the baja bushings can make the truck handle funky/be wallowy

Alcan makes a similar bushing for leaf springs as well.

All you spring under guys, any of you running the deaver H70 leafs? Was browsing deaver’s Toyota leaf offerings and stumbled across them.

...maybe deciding whether or not to go with a custom pack or just ditch spring over for under cuz up travel is nice.

That’s gnarly dude. I’m getting started on a similar set for @Coot83, hence asking you about resistors on ig earlier. 1/2” solid rod frame to get things started.

Though seeing how yours stood up to a freaking tree, I’m definitely going to add more internal structure than originally planned.
(This is just the start of the frame, nowhere near what it will end up being )

I have some but not gonna have any experience with them for awhile - @Anthony250 had the regular and the hd versions. DTF used them for his rear kit also.

While you’re messing around with the design let me know if you think it’s feasible to put a shell on the backside of that to protect the back of the tail light

Mine get hammered by ice and snow in the winter and it always blows my bulbs

He bribed me by buying me the start of the cyclones for my own set. Should be fun and a much needed upgrade for LT tail lights.

Well the KC Cyclones @Basikbiker and is are using are sealed LED units. No need for an outer shield for them, and if one of them goes out you can replace the individual light instead of the whole assembly.

Edit: mine outline the oem shape very closely so maybe if you wanted to pop the clear housing off and jb weld it onto these it could work. Or pop the oem lens off and then design a set like these inside of that

    My bad
I was thinking one part of my post and typing the other part.

I like the OE tail lights on my truck but I see the issue you guys are resolving here
I was thinking maybe I could just do some beef trim around the edge of my tail lights, and then put a shield on the back to protect the lights from what the wheels kick up

If you’re thinking about protecting the back of the lights where the wiring/ bulbs go in, I’m sure you could have a plate or something welded/ bolted into the bed on the inside of the fender well to help guard it from shit getting flung up by the tires

Thanks for making this happen! We both know you got the skill and the tools...all I got is a powerless garage. Aye I need a damn house.

please keep the pictures coming on this project. I'm so tired of my tail lights hanging on with zip ties.
Edit: those damn cyclones are expensive. $29x8=$232

Yeah, but at $120-$150 per set for the standard replacements hopefully this is the last pair you have to buy/build. And if anything happens you can replace the individual lights for $30 a piece which isn’t bad.

@Basikbiker has some pics of his setup in the last few pages of his build thread and I’ll post more here as I complete @Coot83 in the next few weeks.

Solid point. When I’m done with my current project I think the tail lights will be next. Of course projects are never finished.
