I traded my 2010 Tacoma poor man's basic truck 4 cyl/2WD for a 2013 used Tacoma Limited, V6, 4WD, and I want to upgrade the navigation system, but I can find the navigation system chip location.

I can take it to the dealer and get the new chip for $175 and$100 to install it, but I can pull an SD chip with the best of them, if I only knew where it was and how to get to it.

Has anyone been there, done that? Any help would really be appreciated. I can get a 2015 chip on Ebay for $100...that much I can manage!

Answer, the map gps update is a software update that has to be done at the dealer in my 2013 Tacoma. There is no micro sd slot, nor does it use a cd...instead, it uses a wireless download to update the map. If you don't have wireless connection via a smartphone with your truck, you have to go to the dealer and pay them $175 to get the latest updates, which came out in Nov/Dec 2015.

Even with the smartphone, you still need to order the download from their site, so you get billed one way or the other. What confuses me are the Ebay micro sd chips being sold from Tacoma trucks made my year and after. I wonder if the gps units installed depended on the level of the truck model you purchased???

I just picked up a 2013 Limited and have looking for the sd card slot as well. I see that it doesn't exist. Did you ever get an upgrade on the nav system or did you just forgo it and say they hell with it?
