Hey guys. Last Sunday, 8 days ago. I was doing plugs change and throttle body cleaning. I didn't plug in the MAF all the way and when I started it, it showed a Check engine light.
I shut it off and I pushed the MAF connector in and undid the battery. CEL was gone. I went to get a smog check and they said it was still in the ecu memory and they can't clear it. Said to keep driving it and after starting up a few things times, it will clear itself
How many times do I have to restart the truck to o reset the CEL ? Thanks

I would have thought some California people would chime in.

Not knowing California I would guess they meant not all the tests have run yet so keep driving till they do.

Just what Code did you have??

when I lived in Vegas it was the same thing. your cel stores any codes that way people cant just disconnect negative terminals and clear to pass smog. So id say drive around for about an hour and it should clear it. its a pain in the ass...I know

Usually the computers internal monitors do self tests every 200 miles or so. It may be less for us, but I would say drive it 200 miles then before you smog it, ask them to check your PCM for any codes which remain if any and if none exist have fun getting it snogged!
