From the reading I've done on diffs from ECGS, they recommend non-synthetic for differentials. Apparently the synthetic becomes too thin to properly stick to the ring and pinion and they've noticed damage to diffs running synthetic over dino oil. Would be worth looking in to a bit more.

 

yep. they require the non-synthetic for warranty purposes. interesting stuff to me.

 

I swear building differentials and properly maintaining them is black magic and ECGS is the dark wizard.

 

yessir for sure. I've ready so many stories about issues people have had with others doing their gears and whatnot but ECGS is always the top dog.

 

I read about a guy who found shavings in his diff built by them. He told them, they gave him a solid explanation that in the end was correct but offered to send him another diff anyway. He declined so they sent him an extra set of gear oil to flush it again and a $100 refund anyway. Those guys seem super top notch.

yeah I wouldn't recommend anyone else over them that's for sure. the few conversations I had with them they were great and didn't mind that I was asking questions that they probably get 1000times a day.

 

Well, at the end of the day, you don't just pay for the product but the service and expertise with it. I feel that they're one of the few companies that still embrace that.

 

you'll be fine running that, it's what everyone pre-ECGS gears seems to run. I ran the

$30 Mobil 1 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

Mobil 1 75w-90 synthetic in mine.

 

I run dino oil, 1) because its cheaper 2) ECGS knows more than me. You can't go wrong with going off the factory service manual though.
