    Still truckin’!

Second coat of primer on the interior floor.

Then I hastily made these spacers to get the camper up off the table enough to paint underneath. The 4x4’s sit right where the mounts are so I’m missing a minimal amount of surface. And it’s surface that will be all scratched off when the camper is mounted anyway. It’s all sealed up with epoxy so I’m not worried about it.

Then I primed the bottom of the camper the best I could. There has been no fairing or any other fancy stuff going on under here. I just want the majority of it to be “protected” and the same color as the rest of the camper.

You can see in some of those pics where I have re sanded some of the walls. Figured I might as well fuss a little bit over the finish since it’s pretty easy to do now.

I also picked up what I believe to be the last of the fasteners I need. Digging that!

My Amazon order of butyl tape was “delivered” today to a “resident” at my address. Well, neither of the three of us were home nor received anything. So, they either delivered it to some scum bag at the wrong address or a different scum bag who was sitting on my porch. Either way, some dishonest scumbag now has three rolls of butyl tape. #winning
Anyway, I contacted amazon via the app and the algorithm that helped me was lightning quick and assured me that my shipment will be here tomorrow.

Some scum bag stole the hatchamials I bought and sent my nieces. They mysteriously ended up on my parents porch a few days later

Ha! I halfway expect to have my butyl tape rolls show up in a day or two when the person realizes the package wasn’t for them and contains nothing awesome.

    Painted more stuff

Second coat on door. Still needs touch up.

Painted all the vertical walls again. And there are still a couple of areas to touch up. Ugh...this paint is so damn runny that’s it’s really hard to get where you want without running or leaving bare spots. Another go around touching up a few tiny spots should be good. It’s just annoying. I REALLY don’t like painting. It’s a terrible medium. Oh, I also painted the bottom of the camper. Likely only doing the one coat.

Amazon delivered this cool ladder I found. Full sized treads, 36” tall, aluminum, 300lb weight limit. Folds to 2” thick! Hopefully it works well in the field for getting in and out of the camper as well as dealing with the eventual awning and roof rack.

Also got my butyl tape and tons of sealant...some for the roof vent fan and some for the boxes.

Getting there! Wish I didn’t have to keep screwing with the paint but it’s still not holding me up. I can fit in the touch ups as I’m waiting for interior paint to dry. It will cost me another $55 or so for more paint though.

Careful with the "normal" size claim.....I live in the south man. Normal here is fucking huge to me.

    I'm 6'-0", 170lb. However, I wouldn't consider myself "normal".....above average, but not normal.

    This normal around here.

    (Minus the hipster shit)

    Today’s update.

First coat of paint on the floor and inside of door.

I’m a little frustrated about the exterior paint right now. It’s okay but it’s not good. I never expected better than good as I’m rolling it on in my dirty ass garage. But how much do I chase around issues when it’s likely going to be all chipped up and scratched after it’s first trip. Heck, it’ll be chipped for sure after it’s first drive in town. Plus, I don’t really have any idea how durable this paint actually is. It could just scratch right off and be a constant pain in the ass to keep even remotely decent. Have I mentioned how much I dislike paint before?

I can’t really photograph the issues because they don’t show up well but there are areas that are less glossy and a few very small runs around fussy areas. I’ve also learned that there is no blending this paint, you have to paint an entire panel at once if you want any kind of color/shine continuity. My OCD says give it another shot as I do have the paint to do it. My sensible side says I’m not building a piano here...stop fussing and put it on the truck and beat it all to shit and do big repairs when necessary...it WILL patina badly over time (no idea what that timeline is)

This photo covers about a 9 square inch area...for scale.

I vote leave it. You'll be painting for years if you want a level of perfection that only you will notice.

Consider some vinyl accent decals, that should really make it pop.

Have you thought about adding something to the paint to give it a textured finish? That might hide imperfections.

Otherwise, don't worry about it. Add a few decals/stickers, and tell your OCD that is how it is supposed to be! ;)

Wrap mountain decals around the bottom of it.

My wife and I want to do something to add some pizzazz but we just haven’t decided what yet. We’ll get there. Let’s give it a good test on some shitty roads to make sure it doesn’t fall apart before we get too much farther along.
