Has anyone gotten the “additional maintenance items for special operating conditions” with their 30k service for free?

If not, was there an extra charge for the recommended fluid changes for the differentials and transmission?

I may qualify for it and need to get it with my upcoming service.

Here is a copy of the recommended service:

I would think the 30k maintainence on the diff.s, transfer case and transmission are considered hard or rough duty

you should consider changing out those yourself if the charge is high from the Dealer, I do mine myself at 30k miles even tho im not at all considered severe duty, its very easy and cost effective if you DIY those items

I could, i was just curious if the dealer does not charge for it as part of the maintenance service or if it’s an extra charge.

Ive gotten them to grease my zerks and check the chassis bolts (could see the clean marks from the sockets on the dust and dried mud that was on some of them) for free too, but that is a small ticket item, those fluid changes aren’t.

the 30k miles differential service is considered a Severe duty situation, I guess if you convince them about your towing they would in clude it, but I would ask about an extra charge for it, they really high ball the cost of that service, probably cost about $60 in oil,new gaskets for the diffs.,

That’s not bad, and I could do it myself. Just hoping to get it for free! ;)

try getting it for free, if it costs extra ask for a price if too much consider doing it youself. another option I do is just do the rear differential at 30k miles and at the next 60k do the front/rear diffs and transfer case that way the rear diff get the change at every 30k miles since its really getting the work more than the others.

Good idea. You wouldn’t happen to have armor under the truck? If so, is the front differential accessible enough to change that? I have Mobtown plates and have been scratching my head about having to take off the front plate for that one.

A lot of these additional maintenance items are pretty easy and there are some good write ups on here. You could def save yourself some money doing it on your own. I changed my front/rear diff oil and transfer case oil myself. Haven't tightened the nuts and bolts but that can't be to bad. I need to do the transmission fluid soon.

I have a 2nd gen has a skid plate with 4 fasteners it has to come off to do the front diff. which is the most somewhat difficult to access and do, when you do it once its a piece of cake. youll need a 10mm hex head socket and breaker bar to get the front plugs off. definetly will need to remove the skid plates

I'm pretty sure you will need to take that mobtown skid plate off to access the front diff. I had to take off my TRD Pro skid to access it.
