To make a long story short, I scratched up my factory reset tint pretty bad while putting my diamondback bin back in in the dark. Anyone know if this can be fixed or is my only option to replace the entire back window? I talked to a tint shop and he said the factory tint is fused in and therefore theres not a fix...any help would be appreciated!

Try removing the scratches with glass polishing compound (cerium oxide). If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, try an auto glass repair shop or body shop.

I'd like to but a junk yard wanted $480 to do it, can't justify that right now

Kind of redneck rigging, but if it's all ready FUBAR, you have nothing else to loose. Try a nice fresh Sharpie, it'll wear off, but Sharpies are cheap until you save up for a replacement window.

I think this would be worth a try. At the very least, it might make it less noticeable.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Maybe spray some aerosol tail light tint into a small container then use a small brush to fill in the scratches

If you can’t afford to do it right which is basically just replacing it, what harm is there in attempting a redneck fix? At the very least it’ll be less noticeable than what is already there now.

    Good luck. . .

And I just thought of this but maybe one of those smoke tinting products for glass? I’ve never done it myself so I don’t know if it would work but it’s just another idea...

Polish all the tint off. That's almost free.

It's privacy glass. There is no film on it. The glass is manufactured with the grey tinting in it.

Then jeweler's rouge, a couple of hours, and a few dozen Dremel polishing pads will fix it. If they aren't deep, a few minutes might be enough.

There will be minor distortion where you polished it, but how much time do you spend checking parallel lines through your back window?

I mean I wanna say the old "it adds character #beatnotbabied" line, but if it were my truck I would definitely fix it. If you ever wanted a big ol decal, but thought it would look bad nows your chance. Besides that I mean as someone else said try buffing it out.

IDK how far away you are, but we can take your truck to a shop here in Mexico and they'll figure something out for like $40USD, or if you have a junkyard window they can replace it for a lot cheaper than up here.

I agree, buffing will probably be the best bet other than replacing it. It won't disappear completely, but it will surely look better... but randomly seeing it thru the back glass would aggravate the shit out of me. I'd end up replacing it for my own piece of mind, lol.

You're not going to buff that out, or get it anywhere near looking acceptable. You can try a sharpie to hide it for a while, but replacing it is really your only option.
