After wire brush I would use por-15. Need to get a primer/etching primer on the bare metal, if not you will continue to have an issue there.

Mine looked better than that, and failed.

The areas of focus are by the catalytic converters. This is where most will rust from the inside out.

Interesting. I’m going to need to inspect my truck carefully up there. I haven’t been up under there and looked closely in a few months...

I’m from the north as well and that’s not bad. You learn how to take care of rust where I’m from. I got my truck from Canada and it’s 10x worst than that.

That part is a little odd. Thought I heard somewhere that if the vehicle came stock with a spare, a dealership couldnt re-sell it without one. But that may just be an internet rumor..

My dads 08 wasnt that bad, yet still failed frame inspection. Tapped a hole right through one of the weld seams. Take it for a test ride up to the Toyota dealer and ask them to inspect it. May (probably will) get a new frame.

IF you buy it, wire brush all the rusty areas and paint them. Wait a week then Fluid Film everything liberally. I also use chain/cable lube in the sandwiched areas of the frame. It's a nice low viscosity at first and wicks in well, then it sets up somewhat.

Am I the only one that sees the perforations in the 2nd pic?

If you are referring to the divot on the frame rail, no that’s not a perforation. If you look at your frame you will see them all down the frame rail.
