Someone hit my rear bumper in the parking lot today and took off. Paint is chipped and they knocked off a retaining clip but nothing is bent. The sad thing is the truck only has 600 miles on it. I bought the clips off Amazon and some touchup paint but wondering what it should run cost-wise if I had a body shop respray it

    None as of yet
I got quoted $450 from my local dealer when someone scuffed mine.
I decided the $10 toutch up paint is good enough.

I've seen videos that show the removal process for those endcaps. Looks like an easy job. You can purchase Duplicolor OE matching paint at your local Automotive Retail Store for about $12.

I am seriously thinking about DIY for mine to rid me of that chrome. Worst case is I end up wasting some time and just but black caps from some place like rockauto.

Yeah If that's the case I'll probably stick to the touchup. No one ever hits my car when I drive a beater but 2 weeks after trading my beater and it gets hit

The Duplicolor paint that I referenced is actually a rattle can. But I'm sure you can find the pen's too.

Go to automotive touchup dot com and put in your paint code. They'll match it 99%. I hit a few touch up spots on my '86 Hilux with 033 Toyota white

Body shops in my area (DC metro) quoted me $90-$140. That’s primed, painted and clear coated. And that’s for one end cap, part not included.

Personally, I would go the route of purchasing an already painted bumper camp. The price difference vs DYI is tempting, but when you consider the paint, and adhesion promoter that was $30 (local) and then the time. It’s hard to get an exact color with Cement at least. Mine are slightly darker. I have now accepted it but it was bugging me.

If you are going DYI, I would recommend automotive touchup.com. I went local and received a slightly off tint can and wasted a bunch of time spraying to find it out. Cost savings weren’t really there either.

All good counterpoints for DIY. I'm still mulling here since mine is super white. I am not as worried as others with match issues but all good points. I think if I wanted them bumper black (unpainted) it would be easier just to buy. Meh, I don't mind wasting time redoing things anyhow....comes with the newbie efforts all the time. I saw the chrome again today and it hurt my eyes LOL

For super white, I would be more inclined to go DYI. Don’t think you will have any color variance. If you go the route of anytime.com, I would get there special clear coat. I used an off the shelf Rustoelum clear and it doesn’t provide much durability at all. Maybe none of them do when you go DYI (idk) but mine already has many small scratches in about 6 months. A pro to buy pre painted might be that it has a more durable clear coat.

I'm no expert, but from what I read, the subtle differences in color is related to the primmer coat. If you need everything to match perfect, you probably should just purchase pre-painted OE parts. If your OK with the possibility of subtle differences, have someone paint the parts for you. Or save some money and DIY.
